๐Ÿ“ฃUB ANNOUNCEMENT: HIGHER EDUCATION CLASS OPENING ARRANGEMENTS FOR AUGUST 10 TO 14, 2026๐Ÿ“ฃ

In view of the continuing heavy Habagat (southwest monsoon) rains, localized landslide risks, and hazardous travel conditions along major access roads to Baguio City, the University of Baguio will implement a Flexible Online Learning Arrangement for the first week of classes, August 10โ€“14, 2026.๐ŸŒฉ๏ธ

The said arrangement shall adhere to the University's Ease-Into-Learning Protocol, allowing classes and course activities to start while providing faculty and students with time to safely adjust to the new academic term.

FOR STUDENTS
โ€“
๐Ÿ”ธ Prioritize your safety
Do not travel if weather or road conditions are hazardous. Students coming from areas affected by severe weather are advised to remain at home and participate online when possible.

๐Ÿ”ธ Stay informed through student portals and official class group chats
Log in to your Student Portal and join the official Group Chats established by your instructors or program.

๐Ÿ”ธ Complete your student course onboarding
Download your course syllabi, check your course requirements, and participate in your instructorsโ€™ course orientations.

๐Ÿ”ธ No academic penalties for weather-related disruptions
Students will not be penalized or marked absent when power outages, internet interruptions, or travel disruptions caused by the weather prevent them from participating in scheduled online sessions.

๐Ÿ”ธ Communicate and stay up-to-date with your instructors
Inform your Instructor, Program Chair, or Dean as soon as power and internet connectivity become available.

FOR FACULTY MEMBERS
โ€“
๐Ÿ”ธ Excercise work and duties remotely when conditions permit
Faculty members may work remotely if they have reliable internet connectivity and can effectively perform their assigned teaching and related duties online.

**Faculty members may only report to the university when travel and campus reporting are allowed and safe under the current circumstances if internet connectivity is not available. Faculty members may switch to preparing coursework and other suitable academic tasks that can be done offline when physically reporting to campus is impractical or forbidden due to weather and safety concerns.

**Students must be informed of these arrangements in a clear and concise manner via the channels of communication that are available.

๐Ÿ”ธ Activate course communication channels
Make course rooms active and establish official class Group Chats and LMS course shells as soon as possible.

๐Ÿ”ธ Focus on orientation and onboarding
During the first week, prioritize course orientations, syllabus walkthroughs, course expectations, and student onboarding.

๐Ÿ”ธ Observe the Ease-Into-Learning Protocol
No graded assessments, strict submission deadlines, or high-stakes quizzes shall be required during Week 1.

๐Ÿ”ธ Provide flexible alternatives
Provide asynchronous learning options for students affected by power, connectivity, or travel disruptions, in accordance with Administrative Memorandum No. 010, s. 2026.

๐Ÿ”ธ Exercise compassion and flexibility
Faculty members are expected to exercise maximum consideration and leniency regarding student connectivity, attendance, and participation during this period.

FOR DEANS AND PROGRAM CHAIRS
โ€“
๐Ÿ”ธ The Deanโ€™s Office shall oversee the implementation of faculty work arrangements during the week.

๐Ÿ”ธ Deans shall ensure that faculty members establish primary communication channels with their respective classes and implement an appropriate monitoring system to regularly check the status and work arrangements of faculty members.

Students and faculty are urged to stay in touch with their deans, program chairs, and instructors in order to stay safe and connected. They should also keep an eye on the University of Baguio's official channels and social media accounts for prevalent updates or announcements.โ˜”๐Ÿซ
