COMMON SENTENCE ENDING.

~나요?
-this adds an emotion of curiosity.
-you are asking and you really want to know the answer.
-Verbs ending in rieul(ㄹ) just drop and add 나요.

멀다- to be far.
멀다- Remove 다, rieul (ㄹ) and add 나요.

머나요? Is it far? i am curious.
집이 머나요? Is your house far? I'm curious and I really want to know.

뭐 하나요? 뭐 하나? (you can just drop the "yo")
What are you doing? i'm curious.

~니 (used by Girls only or a man jokingly or wants to sound feminine)

뭐 하니? what are you doing? im curious and i want to know.

Girls if you are asking someone what theyre doing, you can use this instead of:

•뭐 해요? What are you doing?
•지금 뭐 해요? What are you doing?
•뭐 하고 있어요? What are you doing?

뭐 하니? sounds cuter too. 😅 [Note: Only for girls]

김치가 맛있니? Is Kimchi delicious? I really want to know.

COMMON SENTENCE ENDING.

~지/지요/죠?
-Adding an emotion of asking for Confirmation.
-in english it literally means, isn't it? right?
-you both know, and you are just confirming it.

Ex:
맛있다 - to be delicious.
Remove 다 and add 죠.

맛있죠?
It's Delicious. Right?
It's Delicious. Isn't it?

한국어는 쉽죠?
Korean language is easy. Right?
한국어는 재미있죠?
Korean language is interesting. Right?

그녀는 예쁘죠?
She is Pretty. Right?

저는 잘 생겼죠?
I am handsome Right? 😂

COMMON SENTENCE ENDING.

This is Interesting and commonly used by Koreans.

~네(요)
-attached to verbs.
-adding an emotion of surprise, it means like wow, oh, hey!
-acknowleding something.

Ex:
맛있어요 - simple form of saying It's delicious.
맛있네요! - Wow! I'm surprised, it's delicious!

Note:
Every verb that ends with rieul (ㄹ) just drop it and add 네요!

길다 - to be long
*remove rieul and add 네요.
기네요! - Wow i'm surprised. it is really long.

춥다 - to be cold (weather)
춥네! [chum-ne!] Wow it's really cold!

LESSON: WHILE

(으)면서
- attached to Verbs
- Progressive
- connector of while doing.
- 2 actions are going on. Someone is doing an action while doing something else.

Example:

•앉으면서
While sitting down.

앉다- to sit

•음악을 들어면서 공부를 하는 것을 좋아해요.
I like to study while listening to music.

음악 - music
들어면서 - while listening [듣다] - to listen
공부를 하는 것 - to study
좋아해요 - like

•티비를 보면서 밥을 먹어요.
I eat while watching TV.

티비 - TV
보면서 - while watching [보다] - to watch/see
밥을 먹어요 - eat.

ANOTHER LESSON:

•은 채(로) - consonant ending verbs
ㄴ 채 - vowel ending verbs
- also means while (Past tense)

앉은 채- while seated.

LESSON: HOWEVER, BUT

However - 그렇지만, [Geu-reo-ji-man]
But V/A + 지만. [Ji-man]

Example:
A: 베티 씨, 내일 시간 있어요?
Betty, do you have time tomorrow?

B: 미안해요. 내일 바빠요.
Im sorry. Im busy tomorrow.

그렇지만, 토요일에는 시간 있어요.
However, I have time on saturday.

저는 맥주 좋아해요.
I like beer.
그렇지만, 소주 안 좋아해요.
However, i don't like soju.

맥주는 좋아하지만 소주는 안 좋아해요.
I like beer but i don't like soju.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE:
옷은 싸요. 가방은 비싸요.
The clothes are cheap. The bags are expensive.

옷은 싸요. 그렇지만 가방은 비싸요.
The clothes are cheap. However, bags are expensive.

옷은 싸지만 가방은 비싸요.
The Clothes are cheap but the bags are expensive.

LESSON 1.14

AGE

After learning SINO Korean and Native Korean number, it's time to put these into use.

살 [sal] - counting unit for age.

Example:
20 years old.
스무 살. [Seumu-sal]

If we want to make a sentence, Just add 이에요 in the end which means "to be". To be on that age.

Example:

저는 스무 살이에요. [Jeo-neun-seumusal-i-ye-yo]
I am 20 years old............

HOW OLD ARE YOU?

•HONORIFIC: 연세가 어떻게 되세요? [yeonsega-otteoke-dweseyo?]

•FORMAL: 나이가 어떻게 되세요? [Naiga-otteoke-dweseyo?]

•CASUAL: 몇 살이야? [myeot-sal-i-ya?]

저는 __________ 살이에요.
I am __________ years old.

LESSON 1.13

NUMBERS
Today's lesson, let us count using PURE/NATIVE KOREAN.

1- 하나 [hana]
2- 둘 [dul]
3- 셋 [set]
4- 넷 [net]
5- 다섯 [daseot]
6- 여섯 [yeoseot]
7- 일곱 [ilgop]
8- 여덟 [yeodeol]
9- 아홉 [ahop]
10- 열 [yeol]

From 11-19, its [Ten] + [number 1-9]...

열 + 하나 [yeol-hana] = 11
열 + 둘 [yeol- dul] =12
열 + 셋 [yeol-set] = 13
열 + 넷 [yeol-net] =14.....

Same goes with 21-29
But for 20, its 스물 [seumul]

20 스물 [ seumul ]
21 스물하나 [ seumul-hana]
22 스물둘 [ seumul-dul]
23 스물셋 [ seumul-set].....

The same applies for 30-99.

30 - 서른 [seoreun]
40 - 마흔 [maheun]
50 - 쉰 [swin]
60 - 예순 [yesun]
70 - 일흔 [ilheun/ireun]
80 - 여든 [yeodeun]
90 - 아흔 [aheun]

Note: Pure korean/ Native korean can only be use for counting from 1-99. For bigger numbers - 100 and above, We use SINO KOREAN.

LESSON 1.12

NUMBERS
It's time to learn about numbers. In korean there are two types of counting numbers.

The first type is SINO-KOREAN which has influence from CHINA.

1 - 일 [il]
2 - 이 [i]
3 - 삼 [sam]
4 - 사 [sa]
5 - 오 [o]
6 - 육 [yuk]
7 - 칠 [chil]
8 - 팔 [pal]
9 - 구 [gu]
10 - 십 [sip]

For 11-19, just write ten + the number together.

십 (10) + 일 (1) =11
(십일)
십 (10) + 이 (2) =12
(십이).............................

이십 =20
For 21-29, its like writing 2 + 10 + the number.

이십 + the following number.
이십일= 21
이십이= 22 and so on.

백 [baek] = 100
백일 =101 and so on.

Please take note that you dont need to say 일 [il] for 100, 1000, 10000,...

백 [baek] =100 not 일백 [il-baek]
천 [cheon] =1000 not 일천[il-cheon]
만 [man] = 10000 not 일만 [il-man]

주세요 [ju-se-yo]
Comes from the verb 주다 [ju-da] which means "to give".

Example:
•돈 주세요. [don-ju-se-yo]
Please give me money.

•맥주 주세요. [maek-ju-ju-se-yo]
Please give me a beer.

•사과 주세요. [sa-gwa-ju-se-yo]
Please give me an apple.
