From Beans to Bees! ❤️❤️❤️

Nature’s original caffeine addiction. 🐝☕️

While we rely on coffee for a morning boost, the Coffea plant evolved to use caffeine in its nectar as a strategic survival tool. It biochemically hacks a pollinator's memory, creating a synthetic "buzz" that ensures bees return to the exact same botanical variety over and over—often ignoring richer nectar sources nearby.

It’s an evolutionary masterpiece: guaranteed cross-pollination for the plant, and hyper-motivated foragers for the hive. But as with any stimulant, it comes with a trade-off, tricking the colony into over-valuing the caffeinated blooms.

Coffee..
Community..
Culture..

Experience coffee at its origin. High in the mountains of Benguet, listen to the story of coffee, from the farm to your cup.

On May 16 and 17, we invite you to different kind of coffee experience -- one where you see the entire production process from the planting, to the processing, roasting and brewing.

Walk through the farms, meet the farmers, and learn the craft. More than a workshop, this is a journey into the heart of Philippine coffee.

OUR SAMCIS COFFEE JOURNEY..

What started on August 4, 2022 as a ceremonial tree planting activity together with our Benguet Coffee Project extension partners is now a growing legacy..

Rooted in purpose—to uplift farmers, restore ecosystems, and produce quality coffee through education—this journey is more than just planting coffee trees.. it is slowly creating a transformative educational system for all..

Through NSTP integration in its BILIG (Bolstering and Intensifying Louisian Initiatives for Greening Movements) Projects, students did not just learn—they lived sustainability:

📍 2023–2024: Monitoring, replanting, nurturing
📍 30 new seedlings planted
📍 2025: First harvest with cupping and tasting for our Japanese visitors
📍 2026: Second harvest by NSTP BSHM1 students with further process for product development; integration of technology by BSIT students for capstone projects..collaboration for interdisciplinary research..

Because when education meets action,
impact is unstoppable..

COFFEE AND TECHNOLOGY!

MANILA — What began as a simple digital loyalty card for a local café has evolved into a first-of-its-kind digital hub for the Philippine coffee industry.

Dandy Alberto, a cybersecurity engineer and owner of Mahiwaga Cafe, launched Where to Coffee this year after realizing the country’s booming coffee culture lacked a centralized tech platform.

While the Philippines boasts world-class beans and a thriving café scene, Alberto found the ecosystem fragmented across various social media and map applications.

"The Philippine coffee scene is amazing, but it is difficult to find it all in different apps," Alberto said. "Where to Coffee is my attempt to build what should exist—one home for anything coffee."

The platform, which transitioned from ideation in August 2025 to beta testing in January, connects every link in the value chain. It allows café owners to manage reward systems, roasters to showcase local beans, and event organizers to list gatherings.

For enthusiasts, the app features "coffee journaling" to help others discover local cafés.

The journey has not been easy for the three-person team. Alberto self-funded the project, facing skepticism from potential partners and the hurdle of building an industry network from scratch.

"Most people did not believe in it," Alberto said. "I have no big network to rely on, but I continue."

The app’s core philosophy is built on traceability, offering users a "farm-to-cup" look at their brew. Alberto envisions the platform becoming a staple for the industry, eliminating the need for multiple apps to track trends or source beans.

"The app itself is a centralized platform for anything coffee," Alberto said. "It could help our coffee be seen and valued."

Specialty Coffee!!!

"We believe in supporting the future of specialty coffee for generations to come through science and data-driven research...there’s a huge potential to directly support producers—that’s why we’re excited to be even more involved now than ever before."
—Andrew Miller, Cafe Imports
