PMA Class of 2028
"...from more than 42,000 applicants, 22,528 were qualified to take the PMA Entrance Examination (PMAEE) and 21,655 successfully completed the PMAEE after the limited physical examination and Cadet Qualification Test. Only 1,243 passed the PMAEE and qualified to undergo the next selection phase. A total of 1,001 cadet candidates reported to V. Luna Medical Center for their Complete Physical Medical Examination. Exceptionally, after the rigorous selection process, 370 resilient plebe cadets remained steadfast for the Reception Rites and Oath-Taking Ceremony at the hallowed grounds of the Borromeo Field in the Philippine Military Academy."

HUMANS OF THE SERVICE #10 (Women's Month Special):
PMA's 2nd Female Regimental Adjutant: "God's "No" is not a rejection but a redirection."
"I want to bring pride for the Philippines. I want to become a national athlete" - this is what I've always told myself during my highschool days. I have always pictured myself as someone who is wearing a gold medal while holding our national flag crying in joy for winning an international volleyball league. However, not all dreams are meant for us to be attained.
I became a student athlete when I was in the 9th Grade. With my vision of becoming a national athlete, I studied hard in order to maintain a good grade for my varsity scholarship and at the same time I also trained hard in order for me to reach what I am aspiring for. The path for me was great. I was able to improve my skills with the help of my coaches and teammates. I was able to visit different places and represent my school, my unit, and my region.
As I have reached college level, I was able to enter a well-known university in Davao, the University of Mindanao, and studied Bachelor of Science in Computer Science then later on shifted to Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. It was during this stage where my vision of becoming a national athlete becomes blurry. I have always loved my sport, however, I can't find myself fitted to any courses in college. I have already shifted to 2 courses and I was planning on shifting to an engineering course. Another plan of mine was if I don't fit in this engineering course again, I would like to shift to Multi-media arts and so on. I have known PMA since Grade 12 but I failed the entrance exam twice already so I was slowly considering it as a career not fitted for me as well.
I took the PMAEE 3 times. On my third take, I was asking myself why I kept on taking this examination even though I never passed my two attempts. Luckily, it was also on my third take where I passed. So I continued and left my varsity career even though I have no idea where I am heading. It was during this time where I felt afraid but not to the point where I have this idea of quitting.
As I have entered plebehood, I have found the answer why I passed on my third take and I was grateful for it. I told myself, "Baka dito ako na class naka pasok kasi andito yung CHANGES." It was in the PMA Class of 2024 where the eradication of maltreatment was strictly observed. I was thankful for it but sad at the same time as others have their own opinion of the rationale of the said practice. As I have heard those opinions, I have sworn to myself that we can reach the standards with the positive type of leadership being implemented. I was satisfied with the type of training applied by my squad leaders and buddies. As I was practicing their teachings, I fell in love with the standards of the cadet corps in terms of the preparation of uniforms, discipline, character and other aspects.
With this, I aspired to enter the organization where most cadets consider them as the greatest bearer of standards - the colors. I aspired for it because I want to learn more and I want to maintain what I already mastered. I joined their ranks and I was the 3rd Battalion Sergeant Major. Being a Sergeant Major is not just someone who guards the Humility Battalion flags during parades but it is someone who ensures that the battalion is practicing the best conduct and discipline implemented in the cadet corps.
My love for the Cadet Corps grew and I aimed again for a higher vision. I was planning to apply for a Cadet Captain position - 3rd Battalion Commander. However, the Assistant Commandant of Cadets, Colonel James Sababan, spoke with me during Ranks Inspection and told me to apply for a Regiment position. I planned to apply as an Executive Officer, however, I felt that I have greater calling for the Regimental Adjutant position as I also have this passion with regards to the guard system of the cadet corps.
The deliberation for Cadet Captain position started, I was sad because I was not deliberated for the Council of Commanders. That is when I started to shift my mindset to prepare myself for the deliberation for the Regimental Adjutant position. We were summoned at the Grandstand and together with me are three of my mistahs. We were tested to trot and shout the commands at the Borromeo Field. Again, I have no idea where I am heading, I was afraid but turning back was never on my senses.
I became the Regimental Adjutant and I can say that I am happy of what I am doing now. I love how I give corrections to those who post as guards. I love how I mentor other cadets with regards to the standards of the corps. I feel great satisfaction in being present in every testimonial parade. Lastly, I love how our Superintendent, Lieutenant General Tolentino, meets me as we shake hands with the visitors after every parade saying "Madami ka na namang na fake Gabs ah."
"I want to bring pride for the Philippines. I want to become a national athlete" - this is what I've always told myself during my highschool days. Nevertheless, this is not the path I am currently taking. I have failed to achieve something I have always told myself. Rather, I chose the road less travelled. They say that God's "No" is not a rejection but a redirection. Now, I tell myself: I want to bring pride for the Philippines. I will be a future officer of the Philippine Navy, serving a greater purpose not only for myself, but for my country.
