After several consecutive days of cancellation of face-to-face classes due to weather-related conditions, Springhills Integrated School (SIS) resumed in-person classroom instruction today, August 12, 2026.

The return to HAYO—continuous in-person classroom learning brought learners and teachers back to their classrooms as the school continued to balance learning continuity with the health, safety, and well-being of every learner.

𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴

Based on the school's attendance monitoring, 236 out of 308 registered learners were present, equivalent to an attendance rate of 76.62%.

A total of 73 learners were recorded absent. The attendance figures reflect the school's monitoring across Kindergarten to Grade 7 and non-graded learners.

The highest number of absences was recorded in Grade 5, with 17 learners absent, followed by Grade 1 with 11 and Grade 2 with 9.

Teachers conducted follow-ups with parents and guardians regarding the learners who were absent. Based on the initial follow-up, most of the absences recorded today were due to sickness.

The school continues to monitor the situation and remains attentive to the health and well-being of learners.

𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨' 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨

As face-to-face classes resumed, the school reminded parents and legal guardians of the provisions of DepEd Order No. 14, s. 2026, particularly the guidance that parents and legal guardians retain the ultimate responsibility for determining whether their children should attend classes during disasters and calamities, taking into consideration their children's physical and/or mental health and overall safety.

This responsibility applies even when no official order suspending classes has been issued.

At the same time, parents and guardians are reminded to work closely with the school to ensure that learners who are unable to attend classes are given opportunities to catch up with the required learning competencies they are expected to master.

𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙍𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙖 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮

The recent class cancellations highlight the importance of preparedness and cooperation in keeping learning on track during disruptions.

Teachers will continue to monitor attendance, communicate with families, and provide appropriate learning support to learners who were unable to attend.

Parents and guardians likewise play an important role by keeping communication lines open and supporting their children in recovering missed learning.

For Springhills Integrated School, learning continuity goes hand in hand with learner safety. Every decision is guided by the shared commitment of the school, families, and the community to protect learners while ensuring that they continue to progress in their education.

Today, the classrooms are once again filled with the energy of learning.

In response to the class suspension, Springhills Integrated School conducted a Messenger Poll Check-In to monitor the safety and well-being of our learners, parents, and personnel. The results provide an overview of our SIS community’s current situation and guide our continued support and preparedness during adverse weather conditions.

In response to the evolving needs of learners in the digital age, Springhills Integrated School continues to strengthen its commitment to quality education through the implementation of the Khan Academy Learning Initiative.

Designed to complement classroom instruction, Khan Academy serves as an additional learning support system that provides learners with opportunities to practice, review, and master essential competencies through personalized and engaging digital activities.

From July to August 2026, the school conducted learner orientations, account enrollment activities, and School Khan Team focused group discussions to ensure effective implementation and maximize the benefits of the program.

The initiative began with learner orientation sessions where students were introduced to Khan Academy as a learning partner that supports their academic journey. Learners were guided on creating and activating their accounts, joining the official Springhills Integrated School Khan Team, accessing assigned activities, monitoring their progress, and developing responsible digital learning habits.

Through these orientations, learners gained a deeper understanding that success in learning requires consistent effort, practice, and commitment. Khan Academy provides them with opportunities to strengthen their skills, identify areas for improvement, and work toward mastery at their own pace.

𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙮 𝘼𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙆𝙚𝙮 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨

The implementation of Khan Academy is strategically integrated into the school’s learning programs to support the mastery of essential competencies in key subject areas, particularly Mathematics, English, and Science.

For Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6, Khan Academy provides additional support in developing foundational skills and strengthening competencies in Mathematics and English. Through targeted practice activities and skill-based exercises, learners are given opportunities to reinforce concepts taught in the classroom and address learning gaps.

For Grade 7 learners, the program supports the development of competencies in Mathematics, English, and Science, providing additional resources that help learners deepen their understanding of concepts, improve problem-solving skills, and develop critical thinking abilities.

By integrating Khan Academy into classroom instruction, teachers are able to provide learners with additional opportunities for practice, enrichment, and mastery of learning competencies aligned with the curriculum.

Beyond digital learning support, the Khan Academy initiative strengthens the implementation of the school’s remediation and enhancement programs, including the ARAL Program (Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning).

Through the use of learner performance data, teachers can identify learners who need additional assistance and provide appropriate interventions. Khan Academy activities serve as supplementary resources that help learners revisit essential skills, practice challenging concepts, and gradually progress toward mastery.

For learners who require remediation, the platform provides opportunities for additional practice and reinforcement. For learners who are ready for enrichment, it offers extended activities that challenge them to further develop their knowledge and skills.

The integration of Khan Academy into programs such as ARAL supports the school’s goal of ensuring that no learner is left behind and that every student receives the appropriate support needed to succeed.

Behind this initiative is the continuous collaboration of the Springhills Integrated School Khan Team, composed of educators committed to improving learner outcomes.

Through focused group discussions conducted from July to August 2026, the team analyzed learner engagement, reviewed progress data, shared implementation strategies, and developed approaches to strengthen digital learning integration.

These discussions focused on increasing learner participation, improving mastery levels, strengthening remediation efforts, and ensuring that Khan Academy becomes an effective support tool in achieving better learning outcomes.

Healthy habits were brought to life in every classroom as Springhills Integrated School celebrated Nutrition Month through meaningful learning experiences integrated across different subject areas. More than simply promoting healthy eating, the celebration demonstrated how nutrition education can become a dynamic part of everyday teaching and learning.

From Kindergarten to Grade 7, learners explored the importance of proper nutrition through hands-on activities that nurtured creativity, critical thinking, language skills, and values formation.

The youngest learners in Kindergarten expressed their understanding of the Pinggang Pinoy through colorful artwork. As they illustrated balanced meals, they also learned the importance of eating the right kinds and amounts of food to stay healthy and active.

In Grade 1, learners combined literacy, performing arts, and nutrition through the creation of vibrant fruit masks and the recitation of poems highlighting the value of fruits in maintaining a healthy body. Their enthusiastic performances reflected both confidence and an appreciation for nutritious food.

Meanwhile, Grade 3 learners showcased their creativity by designing fruit and vegetable-inspired headgear. Nutrition concepts were further reinforced in GMRC through discussions on the rights of children, emphasizing every child's right to proper nutrition and good health. In Filipino, learners practiced sequencing skills by arranging the steps in food preparation, connecting language learning with practical life skills.

The celebration became a colorful showcase of imagination in Grade 5, where learners transformed ordinary fruits and vegetables into wearable works of art during a Fruit and Vegetable Dress-Making Activity. The event culminated in a lively fashion show, where participants confidently presented their creative outfits while promoting healthy food choices. To complete the learning experience, learners composed and recited Tanka poems inspired by their chosen fruits and vegetables, beautifully blending literature, creativity, and nutrition advocacy.

At the secondary level, Grade 7 MAPEH learners observed a Healthy Fruit Break, encouraging students to choose fresh fruits as healthy snacks while reinforcing lessons on wellness, balanced nutrition, and healthy lifestyles.

The month-long celebration reflected the school's commitment to the MATATAG curriculum's vision of meaningful, learner-centered education. By integrating Nutrition Month activities into various learning areas, teachers transformed classroom lessons into engaging experiences that helped learners understand that healthy choices are essential for lifelong learning and well-being.

Indeed, Nutrition Month at Springhills Integrated School was more than a celebration—it was a learning journey where every artwork, poem, costume, and healthy snack became a reminder that good nutrition nourishes not only the body but also the mind, creativity, and future of every learner.
