On June 17, The SLU Saint Aloysius Gonzaga Parish community came together for the Sixth Day Novena to St. Aloysius Gonzaga, with the theme, โ€œGod-centered practices and St. Aloysius Gonzaga."

Ms. Mitch Ambloza from the SLU University Libraries, gave a reflection reminding the faithful that with God in the center of everything, we do not have to face our struggles alone.

She shared that despite being born into a wealthy and noble family, St. Aloysius chose to let go of his comfortable life to bravely follow Godโ€™s call. She emphasized how prayer became St. Aloysius' weapon and source of strength throughout his service and mission.

The celebration then continued with the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Rev. Fr. Kanisius Jenali, CICM, and his concelebrants, who led the community in worship and thanksgiving.

โ€œA meaningful life requires prioritizing spiritual growth over worldly success and giving oneself to others.โ€

Fr. Kanisiusโ€™ homily focused on how powerful prayer is. He also emphasized our call to put God at the center of everything we doโ€“ of how when we face uncertainty, we have God who we can turn to, and ask for guidance and strength. Through a touching story, he reminded the faithful to make every day the best day of our lives.

He also highlighted several practices that shaped St. Aloysiusโ€™ life:
Starting every day by trusting God.
Reflecting on Godโ€™s presence in your life.
Serving others selflessly.
Surrounding yourself with people who lead you closer to God.

Fr. Kanisius reminded the faithful, โ€œWe do not pray to boast before God. But instead, to tell Him, โ€˜Lord, I cannot do it alone, I need you.โ€™โ€

St. Aloysiusโ€™ life reminds us to put God at the center of all things we do. May his life, rooted in faith and courage, continue to inspire the faithful to surrender everything to God and walk with confidence, knowing that with Him, we never have to face our struggles alone.
