Day 2 RESULTS: RTSNHS CONTINUES DOMINANCE IN BADMINTON

Ramon Torres Sagasa National High School continued to compete strongly in the Badminton Category on Day 2 of the District Meet 2026, with most of entries advancing to the semi-finals held at Sports Center Badminton Court, today, August 30.

The RTSNHS shuttlers delivered consistent performances across singles, doubles, and mixed events.

Girls Category
Single A: Lee Ann Barona — 2nd Place
Single B: Nikki Heart Tingson — 1st Place
Girls Doubles: Feonny Nacion & Daniela Diaz — 2nd Place

Boys Category
Single A: John Lawrence Dumaraog — 3rd Place
Single B: Tom Ezekiel Castro — 1st Place
Boys Doubles: Nash Nillos & Anghelito Sibugan — 2nd Place

Feonny Nacion & Tom Ezekiel Castro — 2nd Place

ROAD TO DIVISION
With their championship wins, Nikki Heart Tingson of Single B Girls and Tom Ezekiel Castro of Single B Boys qualified to represent RTSNHS in the upcoming Division Meet.

School officials commended all athletes for their effort and sportsmanship as the team continues its campaign in the district meet.

RTSNHS ATHLETES EXCEL IN
DISTRICT MEET 2026

RTSNHS athletes secured championship titles, podium finishes, and Division Meet qualifications on Day 1 of the District Meet 2026, held on August 29.

The RTSNHS Athletics Team was named Overall Champion in both Boys' and Girls' Athletics competitions.

JM Dueño won both the Boys' 9-Ball and Boys' 8-Ball billiards events. Pauline Bolivar qualified for the Division Meet in the Girls' Billiards category.

In volleyball, the RTSNHS Boys' Team placed second, while the Girls' Team finished third.

In chess, Mark Anthony Timblador won the championship in Boys' Board 2. Grellan Valderama won the championship. Laylani Monibit earned silver in Girls' Board 1. For the Division Meet, Mark Anthony Timblador qualified in Chess Boys and Laylani Monibit qualified in Chess Girls.

The RTSNHS Boys' Basketball Team placed second.

Meanwhile, RTSNHS Table
Tennis Team also advanced to the Division Meet.
In Boxing, RTSNHS boxers also claimed victories: Winners without opponent:
Cris Aron Fabela, Brian Joe Abadiez, Argie Amalian.Winner with opponent: Cyrus Salomon.

In Sepak Takraw, the RTSNHS Team, Sagasa, concluded its campaign with a 2-1 result in regus. Despite having only one week of preparation, Sagasa gave its best and put up a strong fight.

We extend our warmest congratulations to the winners and qualifiers. Win or lose, all athletes showcased their best and represented the school with dedication and sportsmanship.

As John Wooden stated, "The most important thing in good sportsmanship is not winning but learning and playing the game."
Qualified athletes will represent RTSNHS in the Division Meet as preparations continue for the next level of competition.

DISTRICT 5A MEET 2026: FIVE SCHOOLS, ONE SPIRIT, ONE BIG “GAME ON!”

SAGASA, 2026 — The cheers are louder, the athletes are ready, and the question “Kailan ang laro?” finally has an answer!
The District 5A Meet 2026 officially opened with a vibrant ceremony hosted by Ramon Torres Sagasa National High School, bringing together the five secondary schools of the district: Ramon Torres Atipuluan National High School, Ramon Torres Dulao National High School, Ramon Torres Malingin National High School, Ramon Torres Taloc National High School, and the host school, Ramon Torres Sagasa National High School.
The celebration began with a lively parade, where athletes proudly marched with their school colors, banners, and unmistakable competitive spirit. The parade culminated at the Ramon Torres Sagasa National High School Covered Court, where the opening program formally took place.
While the sporting events were simultaneously being conducted in different venues, the five schools remained united as they joined the opening ceremonies through Facebook Live. Truly, distance was no excuse—not even for missing the opening ceremony!
The Meet was officially declared open by PSDS Elmer B. Cabiles PhD, setting the stage for days of competition, camaraderie, and sportsmanship.
The Oath of Amateurism, led by Aljean Jabagat, reminded the athletes that true victory is anchored not only on medals but also on honesty, discipline, and sportsmanship. Meanwhile, the Oath of Officiating Officials, led by Sir Angelino N. Jara Jr., affirmed the commitment to fair and just competition.
Adding a literal spark to the celebration was the lighting of the torch, led by the Ramon Torres Sagasa National High School Table Tennis Team—symbolizing the burning passion, determination, and unity that will illuminate this year's Meet.
And just like that, the District 5A Meet 2026 is officially underway!
Five schools. Different venues. One district. One sporting spirit.
May every athlete give their best, every coach keep the faith, every official keep the calls fair, and every spectator cheer loud enough to be heard—even through Facebook Live!
Because in District 5A, we don't just play to win.

Project NOVA Launches at RTSagasaNHS
BAGO CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL - RTSagasaNational High School (RTSNHS) opened its Project NOVA (Nurturing Outcomes Through Values and Aspirations) on August 20, 2026 - an activity focused on issues regarding harmful vices, peer pressure, and gender-based violence among the youth.

The symposium was highlighted by an informative discussion on issues of violence against women and children, r**e, smoking, and alcoholism by Sir Christian Montaño of Infoban, Bago City. He emphasized the importance of respect, consent, and responsible decision-making while raising awareness on the possible consequences of these issues in relationships, health, and future endeavors.

RTSNHS Principal Dr. Joseph P. Arnido commended the event and pledged the school’s commitment to formulating relevant programs in addressing the concerns of the students. Likewise, in her message, Ma’am Joy Grace Jara reiterated the importance of collaboration between students, teachers, families, and the community in guiding the youth into becoming more conscious and responsible individuals.
Moreover, the activity also included various games for the students, which were held after the symposium. The event was concluded with the simultaneous giving of a token and a certificate of appreciation to Montaño by the attendees, including Joy Grace O. Jara, Ma’am Jovelin J. Acosta, and the VAWC representative. Ma’am Ramela Palrmo.

Project NOVA seeks to nurture the values, responsible decision-making, and aspirations of the learners at RTSagasaNational High School.

RT Sagasa Students Excel in District V-A Schools Press Conference

Ramon Torres Sagasa National High School (RTSNHS) student journalists secured top placements in various categories during the District V-A Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held on August 22, 2026, at Ramon Torres Taloc National High School (RTTNHS).

The press conference carried the theme, “Empowering Filipino Youth: Unleashing Potentials in Journalism and Creative Industries in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.” It brought together student journalists from five schools in District V-A: Ramon Torres Sagasa National High School, Ramon Torres Taloc National High School, Ramon Torres Malingin National High School, Ramon Torres Atipuluhan National High School, and Ramon Torres Dulao National High School.

RTSagasaNHS student journalists earned awards in news, sports, editorial, science and technology, feature, editorial cartooning, copy reading and headline writing, and column writing.

In News Writing in English, Ethan Bryce Cabadon won first place, while Feonny C. Nacion placed second. In News Writing in Filipino, KC Trayco secured first place, followed by Samantha Eloise T. Turato in third and Stephanie Jusdin in fourth.

In Sports Writing in English, Sybhelle Ean T. Turato placed second. Meanwhile, in Sports Writing in Filipino, Mesiah Gift Valle won first place, Laylani D. Monibit placed second, and Angel Faith Perez placed third.

Niki Heart Tingson earned fourth place in Editorial Writing in Filipino.

In Science and Technology Writing in English, Jhon Micheal Acuña placed fourth and Trixie Teodoro placed fifth. In the Filipino category, Justine Batayola secured fourth place, while Xyrin Lainmont Ong placed fifth.

Aljean Jabagat earned second place in Feature Writing in Filipino.

In Editorial Cartooning in Filipino, KC Carpentero placed second and Mariel Insuelo placed third.

For Copy Reading/Headline Writing in Filipino, Xabren Moreno won first place, while Irish Castro placed third. In the English category, Kris Angelo Cordero secured first place and Jeehanah Kaye Melocoton placed third.

In Column Writing in English, Reyjun Castañeda placed third. In Column Writing in Filipino, Trina Bea Aldeguer won second place, Hazel Diaz placed 4th,and Stephanie Torres on fifth place.

The winning RTSagasaNHS student journalists qualified for the next level of the Schools Press Conference after placing in their respective categories at the district competition.

RTSNHS Conducts Safety and Security Lockdown Drill

Ramon Torres Sagasa National High School (RTSNHS) conducted a safety and security lockdown drill on August 20, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. to enhance the preparedness of the school community in responding to possible security threats, particularly school shooting incidents.

The lockdown drill was carried out in coordination with the Bago Component City Police Station as part of the school’s efforts to strengthen its safety and security measures. The simulation was led by PMSg Sany V. Romines, PSSg Ijee Q. Saludaquil, and PCpl Jose Abril Lagdamat, who guided the participants through the prescribed lockdown procedures.

Prior to the simulation, PSSg Ijee Q. Saludaquil provided an orientation on the activity, explaining the proper safety procedures and appropriate responses that students and school personnel should observe in the event of an actual security threat. The orientation helped ensure that participants understood the purpose of the drill and the importance of remaining calm, alert, and cooperative during an emergency.

Students, teaching personnel, and non-teaching staff participated in the activity and followed the prescribed procedures during the simulation. The drill provided the school community with an opportunity to practice appropriate responses and strengthen their understanding of what to do during an actual security emergency.

The activity was conducted in response to alarming reports of school shooting incidents in different areas, emphasizing the importance of preparedness, awareness, and coordinated action in protecting learners and school personnel.

Through the lockdown drill, RTSNHS reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment while strengthening coordination with local authorities for the protection and well-being of the entire school community.

RTSagasaNHS student representatives were among the active participants in Linggo ng Kabataan 2026, a week-long celebration of youth leadership, skills, participation and community involvement.

The five-day celebration featured meaningful activities that provided young people with opportunities to learn, lead, showcase their talents and participate in various competitions:

NEW PTA LEADERS INDUCTED, STRENGTHENING SCHOOL– PARENT PARTNERSHIP

Ramon Torres Sagasa National High School held an Oath-Taking Ceremony on August 10, 2026, for the newly elected Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) officers and board members to begin the school year and partnership with the parents and community.

Joseph P. Arnido Jr., PhD, Teacher-in-Charge, led the newly elected officials in taking their oath to perform their duties and carry out their responsibilities.

The Oath-Taking Ceremony was one of the school’s activities during the opening of Intramurals 2026 which included a meaningful celebration of the partnership, cooperation and school spirit. It brought together the school personnel, parents and stakeholders.

The Oath-Taking Ceremony served to express the importance of the PTA in supporting the school’s programs, projects and activities and initiatives aimed at improving learning outcomes and promoting a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.

RTSNHS looks to partnering with its new PTA in a shared commitment and cooperation as teachers and parents join the community in support of every learner.
