Guided by the steadfast leadership of Community Outreach Chair, Maricar Reyes-Palma, these alumni embarked on a mission fueled by the timeless mantra, "Ka-Batch Ko, Ulikdon Ko" (My Batchmate, I will uplift).

This endeavor transcended mere acts of charity; it was a testament to the unbreakable bonds woven among the members of Batch 2000. Through collective effort and unwavering resolve, they pooled resources to raise more than 10,000 pesos, a symbol of their unwavering commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of those facing hardship. The fundraising campaign, infused with the spirit of unity and innovation, showcased their determination to create positive change within their community.

Era A. Caunga, the beneficiary of their compassion, embodies resilience in the face of adversity. Battling mental health challenges, she has confronted countless obstacles with unwavering strength. Through the outreach program, Era and her family received vital groceries and medicines. The batch 2000 further resolved to support Era's journey to receive specialized treatment. Their holistic approach not only addresses immediate needs but also lays the groundwork for a future brimming with hope and possibility.

As Era tearfully expressed her gratitude, her heartfelt words resonated deeply with all present: "Salamat gid sa inyo batchmate. Grateful gid ako katama sa bulig kag pagdumdom nyo sa akon" (Thank you so much, batchmates. I am truly grateful for your help and thoughtfulness). Maricar, echoing Era's sentiment, issued a heartfelt plea to the community: "Nagapanawagan ako sa tanan nga tawo nga nakakilala sa amun classmate nga si Era, Kun inyo siya makita nagalibod sang utan ukon petse-petse, please bakli nyo man siya. dako gid ina nga bulig para sa iya nga kabataan kag kinahanglanon sa adlaw-adlaw. Palihog, buligan ta siya" (I appeal to everyone who knows our classmate Era. If you see her selling vegetables or snacks, please buy from her. It's a huge help for her children and daily needs. Please, let's help her).

Valero's narrative from despair to hope. After a tragic accident in 2018 left Jerry without both hands, his batchmates rallied to support him beyond conventional aid. Teaming up with the LN-4 Foundation Philippines, they provided Jerry with prosthetic hands, marking not only a physical transformation but a profound shift from hopelessness to freedom.

Under the guidance of Batch 2000 Outreach Chairperson Maricar Reyes Palma, and in the presence of City Councilor Mayette Javellana Yao, the significant moment unfolded at the Brgy. Pahanocoy covered court. As Jerry grasped his new prosthetic hands, a mix of joy and emotional release filled the air. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗔. 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗼'𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗵𝘀

Nestled in the quiet corners of Ramon Torres Maao Sugar Central National High School, the Alumni Batch of 2000 orchestrated a touching outreach program that echoed the strength of community and the indomitable spirit of one of their own, Jerry A. Valero.

Jerry, a former classmate and a determined lineman for a private electrical company, faced a life-altering accident in 2008, resulting in the loss of both hands. Though the company generously covered his medical expenses during the recovery phase, Jerry found himself grappling with the challenges of independently providing for his family afterward.

Adapting to the profound changes thrust upon him, Jerry, grappling with physical limitations, faced the arduous challenge of wielding a shovel and shouldering its weight. Enduring the strain, he traversed nearly a kilometer repeatedly to a quarry station, undertaking this taxing labor eight times a day. With the responsibility of providing for his two children's sustenance and education, Jerry embraced this altered reality with unwavering determination. His days were spent tirelessly gathering sand along riverbanks, utilizing his remaining limb. Each sack, sold for a meager 25 pesos per cubic unit at a nearby quarry station, yielded a daily income of approximately 200 pesos—just sufficient to meet the basic needs of nourishment and cover his children's educational expenses. In the face of adversity, Jerry's tenacity and resilience illuminated a poignant narrative of perseverance and sacrifice.

Despite the immense challenges, Jerry's resilience and determination did not go unnoticed by his compassionate batchmates from 2000. Recognizing his unwavering spirit and the hardships he faced, the alumni group rallied together to make a significant impact on Jerry's life.

Under the leadership of Maricar Reyes Palma, the team reached out to generous sponsors within their batch, pooling resources to raise almost 10,000 pesos. This collective effort enabled them to purchase groceries, a sack of rice, eggs, and essential items, alleviating the burdens Jerry bore alone.

In a heartfelt turn over, Maricar represented the batch as they presented the gifts to Jerry. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Jerry expressed his thanks, saying, "Salamat gid kay wala nyo ako nalimtan. Nalipay gid ako sa inyo ginhatag sa akon kag sa akon pamilya" (Thank you very much for not forgetting me. I am truly happy with what you have given to me and my family).

The event not only showcased the enduring bonds within the batch but also highlighted the transformative power of community support. In extending a helping hand to Jerry, Batch 2000 not only provided material assistance but also served as a source of inspiration for resilience, kindness, and the enduring spirit of camaraderie. The recent Virtual Convergence Meeting, held on January 6, 2024 from 6:35 PM to 7:43 PM, saw key figures, including President Wilna Delima, Roxan del Castillo, Francis Bibaoco, Ednalyn Samson, Anabelle Butron, Sharelyn Pareño, Maricar Reyes, Jan Michael Tadlas, Ilen Bausin Mabaga, Rhoda de Claro, Rhea Sumogat, Nerril Alforque, Pepsi Mania, Doni Cubio, and Gisele Pons , actively engaging in discussions that set the tone for a meticulous planning process.

The Batch 2000 Virtual Convergence Meeting kicked off with President Wilna Delima at the helm, guiding essential attendees through a comprehensive agenda that promises a memorable alumni gathering.

A strategic focus on intensifying contact tracing efforts dominated the meeting's initial discussions. Noteworthy points included:

Creating a comprehensive database per section for efficient data management.

Designating section Presidents with specific responsibilities for contact tracing.

Emphasizing the use of Group Chats (GCs) as a vital tool for effective communication.

Stressing the importance of accurate contact details to enhance outreach efforts.

A proactive move by Maricar to initiate the contact tracing process for Section 2 Class.

The financial aspect of the alumni hosting took center stage, with a detailed discussion on the status of funds and potential initiatives:

A snapshot of the current funds, amounting to P6,400.00, presented and shared on Group Chat (GC).

Consideration of a joint account with Wilna for streamlined fund management.

A proposed target date of January 31 for the opening of a bank account, highlighting the necessity for security and accountability.

A groundbreaking proposal for a mutual fund joint account, with Maricar expressing commitment to a future P20 contribution.

A historical perspective shed light on the financial distribution during past alumni events, revealing that almost 80% of the budget was traditionally allocated to food expenses.
