Building a Safer Campus Together!

Today, August 22, 2026, the faculty and students of Saint Joseph's College of Baggao (SJCB) gathered at the Mary Immaculate Hall, Mary Immaculate Campus, for an essential training and orientation program: BFP's Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan & School Emergency Response Plan (SERP).

In active partnership and collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) - Baggao, this activity equipped our school community with vital skills, safety protocols, and emergency response strategies to ensure a prepared and disaster-resilient campus environment.

We extend our deepest appreciation to all the faculty and student participants who actively engaged in this important initiative. We are also profoundly grateful to BFP Baggao for their invaluable guidance, dedication, and unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe.

🌏✨ SJCB OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES ASEAN MONTH CELEBRATION 2026! 🇵🇭🤝

Today, August 10, 2026, Saint Joseph College of Baggao officially launched its ASEAN Month Celebration 2026 through a meaningful opening program held during the flag ceremony in both the Main Campus and Mary Immaculate Campus.

With ASEAN flags proudly displayed by our students and members of the school community wearing their ASEAN-inspired attire, the celebration came alive with the colors, cultures, and spirit of Southeast Asia. 🇧🇳 🇰🇭 🇮🇩 🇱🇦 🇲🇾 🇲🇲 🇵🇭 🇸🇬 🇹🇭 🇻🇳

More than a celebration of different cultures, ASEAN Month reminds us of the importance of unity in diversity, mutual respect, friendship, cooperation, and shared responsibility among the nations and peoples of Southeast Asia.

This launching marks the beginning of our month-long activities designed to deepen our learners’ appreciation of ASEAN cultures and strengthen their awareness of their role as young Filipinos and members of the broader ASEAN community.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to our administrators, AP/Social Science teachers, faculty and staff, student leaders, and students who helped make our simple launching meaningful and colorful. Special thanks to everyone who prepared and brought their ASEAN flags and proudly wore their ASEAN-inspired attire. 🌏❤️

𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗦📖

Nearly 9 in every 10 Grade 11 students assessed by the Department of Education had not yet reached the independent reading level.

Results of the pilot Senior High School Literacy and Numeracy Assessment showed that only 12.58% could read and understand texts expected at their grade level without assistance.

Independent readers were expected to identify important details, make inferences, explain main ideas, summarize information, and draw conclusions from senior high school texts.

Among those assessed, 58.9% were classified at the Frustration level, meaning they could not yet understand grade-level material independently.

Another 28.5% were at the Instructional level and still needed support from a teacher when working with the same material.

DepEd administered the assessment in March 2026 to around 1.4 million Grade 11 learners from public and private senior high schools across the country. It was the first nationwide pilot of the assessment for senior high school.

The scale of the results shows that reading difficulties are not limited to the early grades. A large number of students are reaching senior high school without the level of comprehension required to study complex lessons independently.

DepEd used the assessment results to identify incoming Grade 12 learners who required a 20-day Senior High School Remediation Program in English during the 2026 school break. The program focused on targeted instruction, practice, and learning support for students at the Frustration level.

The assessment has established a clearer national baseline. The greater challenge is ensuring that these students progress from assisted reading to independent comprehension before completing senior high school.
