During the 2026 World University Ranking in Innovation, Saint Joseph's College of Baggao through a Capstone Project from the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Program achieved the rank of #97 under the category A4 - Entrepreneurial Culture and Eco-System.

The Project: Eggvance: Egg Farm Incubator Monitoring and Management System.

Eggvance is an Internet of Things (IoT)-based monitoring and management system designed to support poultry incubation operations for the MAO’s livestock services. The system integrates a smart incubator capable of accommodating up to 162 eggs, equipped with automated warming and egg-tilting mechanisms to maintain optimal incubation conditions. Embedded sensors continuously monitor critical environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, and water levels to ensure proper incubation conditions. Through a companion mobile application, authorized users can remotely monitor incubator status, configure operational settings, receive real-time alerts, and access incubation data and analytics to support efficient poultry production management.

Eggvance includes several integrated modules such as user management and authentication, IoT monitoring and control, egg setting and inspection management, egg condition monitoring, and chick management after hatching. These modules support the complete incubation lifecycle—from egg setting, automated environmental monitoring, and scheduled egg turning, to candling inspections, hatch tracking, and post-hatch monitoring. By logging environmental data, inspection results, and hatch performance, the system generates reports and analytics that help farmers and agriculture officers evaluate hatch rates, reduce losses, and improve incubation efficiency through data-driven decision-making.

College Annual Students’ Research Forum
Theme: “Transformative Research for Community Engagement and Sustainable Development”
Date: April 27, 2026
Venue: Divina Pastora Gymnasium, SJCB Main Campus

The Office of Research successfully conducted the College Annual Students’ Research Forum on April 27, 2026, at the Divina Pastora Gymnasium, SJCB Main Campus. With the theme “Transformative Research for Community Engagement and Sustainable Development,” the forum provided students with a genuine academic platform to present their completed research studies, engage in meaningful discussions, receive valuable feedback from experts, and share research-based solutions to pressing community issues.

This annual activity supports the institution’s goals of:
Encouraging active student participation in research,
Improving the quality and relevance of academic studies,
Promoting the dissemination and utilization of research findings and Developing research outputs that directly respond to community needs.

The highlight of the program was the keynote address delivered by Sir Darin Jan Tindowen, Ph.D., whose inspiring message emphasized the importance of building a strong research culture and increasing SJCB’s presence in internationally indexed publications. His words motivated young researchers to pursue excellence and innovation in their academic endeavors.

The success of the forum was witnessed by the Research Focal Person and attended by Level 3 and 4 college students.
The event was spearheaded by the Director of Research, Ma’am Marie Frances Sibbaluca Villegas, with the full support of the institution’s leadership: Sir Alberto Jr. Perez Calixto (Vice President for Administration), Ma’am Marissa Palomares (Vice President for Academics), and the unwavering guidance of the College President, Rev. Fr. Gerard Ariston P. Perez.

On March 16, 2026, the Office of Research successfully conducted the **Senior High School Annual Students’ Research Forum** at the Divina Pastora Gymnasium with the theme “Transformative Research for Community Engagement and Sustainable Development.”

In line with the K–12 curriculum of the Department of Education, research remains a core component of Senior High School education through Practical Research 1 and 2. Beyond academic compliance, research is recognized as a transformative tool that strengthens students’ critical thinking, innovation, and social responsibility.

The forum provided students with an authentic academic platform to present their completed research outputs, engage in scholarly dialogue, receive expert feedback, and contribute research-based solutions to community concerns. The activity also supports the institutional goals of increasing research engagement, improving research quality, enhancing dissemination and utilization, and promoting community-responsive research.

The researchers of the BSIT Capstone Project “Eggvance: Egg Incubation Monitoring and Management System” are currently requesting 162 chicken eggs (white or brown) to be used for the final round of system testing and validation.

Eggvance is a capstone project of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) Program that aims to improve the efficiency, monitoring, and management of egg incubation processes through the use of technology. The system integrates sensors, automated monitoring, and a digital management platform to track critical incubation conditions such as temperature, humidity, and incubation duration, helping maintain optimal conditions for egg development and hatching.

For this testing phase, 162 eggs will be incubated for approximately 18–21 days, after which the researchers will evaluate how many eggs successfully hatch into chicks. The results will help assess the effectiveness of the system in maintaining proper incubation conditions and supporting improved hatch rates.

The research team is open to receiving donations or purchasing the eggs if necessary, and they are willing to arrange pick-up for convenience.

Saint Joseph's College of Baggao actively participated in the 2026 CEAP Research Committee Capacity Building Initiative, themed “Research as Mission: CEAP Capacity Building Initiative in Luzon Builds a Collaborative Culture and Partnerships,” held on January 20–22, 2026 at Saint Louis College of San Fernando, La Union

SJCB was represented by Sir Raymart Tambauan Magno , Mrs. Joan Cobrador, and Sir Vince Arnedo , who joined more than 60 educators from CEAP member institutions across Luzon. The activity forms part of CEAP’s RACE Framework—Research, Action, Capability-Building, and Empowerment, which calls Catholic educational institutions to pursue research not only as an academic task but as a mission-oriented service to the Church, institutions, and communities.
The three-day program featured plenary lectures and hands-on mentoring sessions on key components of the research process, including research introduction, problem formulation, review of related literature, conceptual framework development, research design, and data analysis. These were strengthened by mentor–mentee workshops that enabled participants to refine research ideas, enhance proposals, and receive focused guidance from seasoned researchers.

SJCB participants were mentored by faculty-researchers from St. Mary’s University of Bayombong—Dr. Allen Marquez, Dr. Elsa Cajucom, and Dr. Kenneth Maslang—who provided sustained academic support. This mentoring partnership will continue over the next nine months, culminating in collaborative research presentations and publications.

This initiative highlights CEAP’s strong commitment to research as a collaborative and mission-driven endeavor, and aligns closely with SJCB’s thrust toward strengthening research productivity, faculty development, and inter-institutional partnerships. Through this engagement, SJCB continues to build a research culture rooted in faith, collaboration, and service, where knowledge is generated and meaningfully applied for institutional improvement and community development.
