Alex Eala made history Sunday (Manila time) by winning her first-ever WTA 125 title at the Guadalajara Open. After a tough start, the 20-year-old Filipina showed incredible heart and determination, coming back to beat Hungary’s Panna Udvardy 1-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Just months ago, she came close at the WTA 250 Eastbourne Open, and now she’s proven she has what it takes to compete — and win — at the highest level.
