In a stunning turn of events just a day before graduation, Pampanga State University, formerly known as Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) senior high school researchers made history, achieving remarkable success at the 1st Philippine Student Thesis and Capstone Competition 2025 (PSTCC2025) and the 1st International Conference on Special Needs and Inclusive Education 2025 (ICSNIE2025).

Held virtually via Google Meet on July 29, 2025, the event, organized by the International Society of Transdisciplinary Researchers, Educators, and Leaders, Inc., saw participation from 76 institutions nationwide.

Potentials swept an awards, a testament to the university's commitment to fostering innovation and excellence.

Presented below are the student award recipients from the competition:

Moreover, Mr. Eddiebal Layco, instrumental in the students' success, highlighted the invaluable experience of presenting their works not just in the halls of deparment or university, but on an international stage. "I let students join the said international research conference to promote academic growth and boost their confidence through global exposure," he explained.

Mr. Layco also extended his gratitude to the research advisers, teachers, and panelists who supported the students' unique and innovative paper.

The university's success at this competition solidifies its position as a leading institution in the Philippines.

Long live the moments that made us feel alive.

In the quiet stillness of our screens, something magical unfoldedโ€”a celebration not bound by walls, but carried by memories, emotions, and pride, culminating in the triumphant passage of the final torchbearers.

On the 13th of June, the virtual meeting lit up for the Awarding of Excellence and Special Awardsโ€”a tribute to every late night spent studying, every brave answer spoken in class, and every silent act of leadership that left a mark.

Guiding the flow of the event with warmth and grace was Ms. Charlene Avito, who served as the moderator. Her voice carried the program smoothly from one highlight to another. Opening the ceremony was Ms. Louie Fe S. Villanueva, MAEd, the ever-supportive principal of DHVSU Senior High School. Ending her statement, she declared, "Soar High even after Senior High."

Following the opening remarks, the spotlight turned to one of the most awaited parts of the programโ€”the recognition of academic achievers. Ms. Jacquelyn C. Magno, Academic Instruction Chair, proudly presented the honor students. She shared that an impressive 677 graduates, making up 86.79% of the senior high school students, were recognized as academic awardees. This achievement breaks down as follows: 72 students with Highest Honors, 400 students with High Honors, and 205 students with Honors.

In addition, special awards were presented to students who excelled in research, both for their papers and presentations. Recognition was also given across various fields, including accountancy, science, mathematics, sports, journalism, leadership, service, and moreโ€”honoring excellence in every track and talent.

The ceremony concluded with heartfelt closing remarks from Ms. Jocelyn Tayag, leaving the audience with words of encouragement and gratitude.

As the ceremony came to a close, it wasnโ€™t silence that lingeredโ€”it was a quiet kind of triumph, the kind that lives in every heart that dared to try. These students are not just names on a list, but constellationsโ€”shaped by struggle, lit by perseverance, and ready to move beyond the sky they once thought was their limit.

For the last time, Don Honorio Ventura State University - Senior High School (DHVSU-SHS) students soars once again with their mathematical prowess, achieving triumph in the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad (HKIMO) 2025 Heat Round held online last May 18th.

Listed below are the students who shined among the participants:

Aaron Nick Infante (STEM A) - Gold Awardee
Jiroh Mallari (STEM B) - Bronze Awardee
Justine Reign Lising (STEM C) - Bronze Awardee

Infante expressed his thoughts on the triumph, โ€œMasaya kasi naka-gold pa sa last competition, since sinikap ko talaga maka-gold. Ngayon naiisip ko kasi na last contest, ayaw ko rin kasi magsisi na 'di mag-gold knowing na 'di na 'ko [makababawi] kasi wala na ngang next.โ€

This victory marks yet another achievement for the department, as they were the final participating batch, leaving behind a lasting legacy.

Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) has made a notable achievement in the April 2025 Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index, securing the 88th position among top Philippine research institutions. The AD index evaluates scientific performance holistically, considering research productivity, long-term impact, and sustained academic excellence as measured by the H-index.

47 Honorian scientists earned spots on the list, and this achievement is noteworthy given that three of the recognized scientists hail from DHVSU-Senior High School (DHVSU-SHS) Department.

Dr. Eddiebal P. Layco, Director of the Planning and Development Office, achieved a remarkable Rank 5. Closely following is Ms. Louie Fe S. Villanueva, DHVSU-SHS Principal, at Rank 11. Rounding out this impressive trio is Mr. Aldrin D. Parico, The Advocate Adviser, who secured Rank 22.

Mr. Parico, in response to this recognition, humbly attributed his success to diligent effort, emphasizing that this is not a personal achievement, but rather a recognition of his contributions as a rising researcher. He stated, "It somehow enhances our professional profile and contributes to the growing reputation of DHVSU in the academic community."

The success of these three faculty members solidifies DHVSU-SHS's role as a leader in quality education and research, inspiring future generations and reaffirming the institution's dedication to foster innovation and societal progress.
