The activity highlights the students’ commitment to developing physical fitness, discipline, endurance, teamwork, and readiness—essential qualities in their preparation as future criminology professionals.

On September 8, 2026 the 𝐕𝐌𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, together with 𝐒𝐓𝐈 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲, conducted a meeting to finalize the plans and activities for the upcoming 1𝙨𝙩 𝙉𝙄𝙍 𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘿𝙖𝙮 2026.

The meeting focused on the program of activities, preparations, coordination, and other important matters to ensure a meaningful, organized, and successful celebration honoring criminology professionals across the Negros Island Region.

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲

2nd Year Criminal Justice Education students under the subject instructor, 𝑹𝒆𝒚𝒎𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝑽. 𝑬𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂, 𝑹𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒎, 𝑴𝑺𝑪𝑱, had their Personal Identification Techniques Laboratory Activity, focusing on fingerprint development and the production of latent fingerprint impressions.

During the activity, the students practiced techniques in 𝙙𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙨 and 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨. They also utilized fluorescent powder to develop latent prints that could illuminate under UV light, making the fingerprint patterns more visible for examination and documentation.

This hands-on laboratory activity provided the students with practical experience in latent fingerprint development, fluorescent fingerprint visualization, and forensic identification techniques, enhancing their skills in the scientific examination of fingerprints.

The 𝐕𝐌𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 formally facilitated the distribution and handling of the 𝑴𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 (𝑴𝑶𝑨) with its partnered agencies. This initiative strengthens the college’s collaboration and partnership with various government agencies in support of experiential learning, community engagement, and the professional development of Criminal Justice Education students.

The MOA was provided to the following partner agencies:

In celebration of the 32𝒏𝒅 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌, with the theme “𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘖𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘢𝘧𝘦𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴,” the Bacolod City Police Office – Police Station 9 visited the 𝐕𝐌𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to conduct a Crime Prevention Orientation for our criminology students.

𝐏𝐒𝐌𝐒 𝐑𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐒. 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐟𝐞 and 𝐏𝐂𝐏𝐋 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐏. 𝐀𝐝𝐥𝐚𝐨𝐧 shared their knowledge and experiences with our students, giving them a better understanding of how they can help prevent crimes and promote safety in their own communities. They also discussed the 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐰, emphasizing the importance of awareness, respect, and knowing how we can protect ourselves and others.

What made the orientation more meaningful was the interaction with our students. The police officers asked them a simple but thought-provoking question:

“𝘈𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺?”

The question gave our students an opportunity to reflect on their role as future criminologists. Crime prevention is not only about enforcing the law, it also about being aware, responsible, speaking up, helping others, and becoming a positive influence in the community.

We sincerely thank BCPO Police Station 9, PCR PSMS Rutchan S. Guardafe, and PCPL Renemy P. Adlaon for taking the time to share their knowledge and inspire our students.

May this activity remind our future criminologists that even small actions can make a difference in creating a safer community.
