September 9, 1945 stands as a significant chapter in the history of Negros Island. On this day, approximately 13,500 Japanese soldiers led by General Takeshi Kono surrendered in Sta. Rosa, Murcia, Negros Occidental, marking the liberation of the island from Japanese occupation during the Second World War.

The road to liberation was shaped by months of conflict and resistance, including the Battle of Patag, a historic encounter remembered in accounts of the final stages of the war in the Philippines.

More than eight decades later, this day reminds us that our heritage is built not only on places and monuments, but also on the courage, sacrifices, and resilience of those who came before us from Filipino guerrillas and Allied forces to the communities who endured the hardships of war.

Today, we remember their stories, honor the freedom they helped secure, and recognize our responsibility to preserve the history of Negros for the generations yet to come.

Today, we celebrate the educators who transform classrooms into spaces of knowledge, character, and possibility. More than imparting lessons, teachers inspire curiosity, nurture potential, and empower learners to become responsible contributors to society.

To every teacher who patiently guides, courageously inspires, and continues to believe in every learner thank you for shaping not only minds, but futures. 🤎📖
