The University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos Supreme Student Government conducted the 𝐒𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬 & 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤 as part of the University’s observance of 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.

The activity brought UNO-Rians together through shared treats and a meaningful campus walk, creating opportunities for connection, conversation, and moments of support and care within the university community.

Through this initiative, the UNORSSG encouraged everyone to pause, connect, and walk together while reminding each other that no one has to face difficult moments alone. A simple gesture, shared moment, or sincere conversation can make a meaningful difference.

The University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos Supreme Student Government joined the observance of 𝐒𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, highlighting the importance of connection, compassion, and meaningful conversations within the UNO-R community.

Through this initiative, UNO-Rians were reminded to look out for one another, listen without judgment, and create a supportive space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐑𝐅𝐅 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 was held as members convened to discuss important guidelines, preparations for the upcoming workshop, and other matters concerning 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥.

The meeting focused on the following:

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 was held on 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲), 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥, 𝐔𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐒𝐆 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, as student leaders convened to deliberate on matters concerning student governance and the welfare of the student body.

‘𝙆𝘼𝙋𝘼𝙄𝙏 𝙎𝘼𝙉𝙂 𝙏𝙐𝘽𝙊’ 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙋𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙪𝙡𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮𝙤 𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝘼𝙍 𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙨 𝙄𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙣

“Kapait Sang Tubo” of the University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos Inc. (UNO-R) emerged as the champion for Best Film under the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB) Category during the first-ever PelikulAgraryo: Department of Agrarian Reform Central and Regional Film Festival (DARCRFF) in the Negros Island Region today, September 24 at Roy’s Hotel, Bacolod City.

Representing DAR Negros Occidental 2, “Kapait Sang Tubo” also took home several major awards under the ARB Category, including Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Actor for Phobe Jhon Aungon, and Best Director for Mhika Jhella Cenizal.

The festival brought together student filmmakers from Central Philippines State University–Victorias, representing DAR Negros Occidental I–North; Metro Dumaguete College, representing DAR Negros Oriental; and Siquijor State College, representing DAR Siquijor.

Carrying the theme, “Voices of the Liberated Land: Agrarian Stories and Lessons, Seeds of Legacy for the Youth,” PelikulAgraryo highlighted the experiences of farmers, agrarian reform beneficiaries, and rural communities through the creative lens of the youth.

The event was graced by DAR officials led by Undersecretary for Policy, Planning and Research Office Lani C. De Leon, Assistant Secretary for External Affairs and Communications Operations Office Jose Jenil C. Demorito, and DAR Negros Island Region Regional Director Lucrecia S. Taberna, together with DAR regional and provincial officials.

Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) Jimmy and Nora Mameng, whose inspiring story served as the basis for the film, were also present in receiving the award.

Beyond the competition, PelikulAgraryo gave young filmmakers a platform to bring the stories of farmers and agrarian reform beneficiaries to the screen, highlighting their trials, victories, and aspirations while inspiring the youth to appreciate and carry forward the legacy of agrarian reform.
