📚 𝗕𝗘𝗬𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗡𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗡𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗦: 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗨𝗟𝗧𝗬 𝗘𝗫𝗣𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗫𝗘𝗗 𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗗𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗖𝗛

Teachers and Academic Coordinators from the Integrated School (IS) and Liceo gathered at the BEU Satellite Library on September 21, 2026, for an engaging session on “Beyond Numbers and Narratives: An Overview of Mixed Methods Research,” led by Dr. Jigger P. Leonor.

The interactive seminar explored how quantitative and qualitative approaches can be integrated to provide a more comprehensive understanding of educational concerns. Through the session, participants gained insights into how combining numerical data with rich qualitative perspectives can strengthen research and support more informed approaches to addressing complex academic challenges.

The session highlights the school community’s continuing commitment to research excellence, professional development, and evidence informed educational practice.

🔬 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟴 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟰

Grade 8 student researchers participated in 𝗦𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟰: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 on September 14 at MM Auditorium A.

The half day session focused on developing key components of their Science Investigatory Projects, including the Background of the Study, proper citation, research questions, and hypotheses. Students engaged in guided discussions and writing activities designed to help them develop and refine their research outputs.

𝗠𝗿. 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗥. 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼, 𝗟𝗣𝗧 discussed Background of the Study and Proper Citation, while 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗣. 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 facilitated the session on Research Questions and Hypothesis Development.

The activity is part of the 𝗦𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 of the BEU Research Office, which provides research support to student investigators as they develop their Science Investigatory Projects.

The 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 (𝗕𝗘𝗨) 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, in collaboration with the Integrated School Math, Science and JHS English Departments conducted 𝗦𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 (Skills Preparation and Academic Research Kit) Writeshop Series – Session 3 on September 7, 2026, at the 𝗨𝗦𝗟𝗦 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗮 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿.

Carrying the theme “Shaping and Defining Your Integrative Research,” the third session brought together Grade 10 student researchers for a focused workshop on strengthening key components of their research manuscripts.

The session covered four essential areas of research writing: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆, and 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗺𝘀. Through focused discussions, guided writing activities, and consultations, student researchers worked on refining and aligning these components with the direction of their respective studies.

Serving as resource speakers were 𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗡𝗶𝗺𝗿𝗼𝗱 𝗕. 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝘇, 𝗟𝗣𝗧, who facilitated the sessions on Conceptual Framework and Scope and Limitations, and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗔𝘆𝗿𝗲, 𝗠𝗔𝗘𝗱, who discussed Significance of the Study and Definition of Terms.

The workshop provided student researchers with an opportunity to move beyond developing individual sections of their manuscripts and consider how these components work together to establish a clear and coherent research study.

𝗦𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟯 marks another milestone in the BEU Research Office’s continuing efforts to equip student researchers with the knowledge, skills, and guidance needed to develop meaningful and well-grounded research.

The SIP SPARK Writeshop Series | Session 4: Building Your Scientific Investigation for Grade 8 continues as our young researchers take another important step in developing their Science Investigatory Projects.

Through guided inputs and hands on writing sessions, Grade 8 research groups will work on writing the Background of the Study, practicing proper citation, formulating research questions, and developing hypotheses, key components in building a strong scientific investigation.

BEU Research Training Series 1 | The Blueprint of Research

Thank you to all our IS and Liceo faculty members for your active participation in the third session of the BEU Research Training Series.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Hazel P. Atilano, PhD for sharing her expertise and insights on theoretical and conceptual frameworks in research, and for helping our teachers better understand how these frameworks guide and strengthen the research process.

The session provided valuable perspectives on identifying, developing, and connecting theoretical and conceptual frameworks to specific research objectives. Through this practical discussion, our teachers were equipped with strategies to better guide students in translating theory into meaningful and well-grounded research.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this session. We look forward to continuing our professional learning journey as we strengthen research practices and empower our teachers and students to develop deeper, more coherent, and meaningful research.

The 𝐁𝐄𝐔 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, in collaboration with the 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, conducted SIP SPARK Writeshop Series Session 2 last August 24, 2026, at the BEU Library.

With the theme “𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑮𝒆𝒏 𝑨𝑰 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑷𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆 8,” the session guided Grade 8 student researchers in identifying meaningful challenges, exploring research possibilities, selecting feasible topics, and developing purposeful research titles.

The session was led by 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐲 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞, 𝐌𝐀𝐄𝐝, together with Science 8 teachers 𝐌𝐬. 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐱𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞 and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐏. 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫, BEU Research Coordinator.

Through the writeshop, learners explored how real world challenges can serve as starting points for meaningful and feasible Science Investigatory Projects. They were also introduced to the responsible and purposeful use of Generative AI as a support in developing and refining their research ideas.

The activity forms part of the continuing efforts of the BEU Research Office to strengthen research readiness among learners and foster a culture of inquiry, innovation, and purposeful scientific investigation.
