CBMA Community Extension and Engagement Program: Orientation for Out-of-School Youth

The STI West Negros University – College of Business Management and Accountancy successfully conducted an Orientation for Out-of-School Youth (OSY) of Brgy. Taculing as part of its commitment to community extension, service, and meaningful community engagement. The Out-of-School Youth of Brgy. Taculing is an official beneficiary of the Tycoon Talk and Business Week programs of CBMA.

The activity brought the university and the community together to provide guidance, encouragement, and valuable opportunities for out-of-school youth. Through the orientation, the participants gained important information and were encouraged to recognize the value of education, personal development, and the opportunities available to help them build a better future.

This initiative was also made possible through the invaluable support and cooperation of Lady Gles Gonzales-Pallen, Barangay Captain of Brgy. Taculing; Bea Kryshia Pabular, SK Chairperson; and Nelfred John Perez, SK Kagawad and a former student of CBMA. Their support and partnership played an important role in making this meaningful engagement with the youth possible.

The CBMA community, headed by Dr. Mima M. Villanueva, Dean of the CBMA Department, together with Assistant Dean Christine C. Francia, Dr. Winnie Joy C. Mananap, CBMA Community Coordinator, Dr. Edna Maricon Arca, Program Head of Business Administration, Salvador Sigaya Jr., Faculty Member, Jessa Joy T. Quilantang, CBMA Student Council Governor, Vanessa T. Pira-an, Student Council Associate Justice, and Daniela Joy Ea, JFINEX President, remains committed to reaching out to the youth and creating a positive impact beyond the classroom. Through this initiative, we shared knowledge, encouraged dreams, and empowered the participants to take meaningful steps toward achieving their goals.

CBMA Strengthens Community Engagement in Brgy. Taculing

The College of Business Management and Accountancy (CBMA) conducted a preparatory visit to Brgy. Taculing on September 11, 2026, to coordinate and confirm the Community Orientation for Out-of-School Youth (OSY) scheduled for September 12, 2026.

The upcoming orientation will be conducted through a collaborative effort between the Tertiary ( Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) Programs and the Graduate School (Doctor of Public Administration, Master in Public Administration, Doctor of Business Administration, and Master in Business Administration) programs joining the initiative.

The visit also provided an opportunity to coordinate with the officials of Brgy. Taculing and finalize preparations for the community-based activity.

Representing CBMA during the visit were:

By bringing knowledge and meaningful engagement beyond the campus, the university creates opportunities to empower Out-of-School Youth within the community through the Tycoon Talk Series and Business Week programs.

📚💀 EXAM WEEK: ACTIVATED.

And just like that, it’s time to put those reviewers to work. From late-night studying and last-minute memorizing to whispered prayers and “Lord, please let me remember what I reviewed, Lord ikaw na bahala” moments, the exam week grind is officially here.

To every CBMA student, especially those who continue to balance academics, leadership, responsibilities, and everything in between—good luck! Whatever happens inside that exam room, never forget that your hard work and effort already make you someone worth being proud of.

Take a deep breath, trust yourself, and give it your best shot. One exam at a time, one answer at a time. And when all the stress is finally over, deserve mo ang ice cream. 🍦

Pangkat Maharlika Crowned Overall Champion in CBMA Freshmen Orientation and General Assembly 2026

The spirit of camaraderie, creativity, teamwork, and friendly competition filled the STI West Negros University Gymnasium as the CBMA Freshmen Orientation and General Assembly concluded with its much-awaited awarding ceremony on August 27, 2026.

After a day filled with cultural performances, energetic team yells, and exciting team games, Pangkat Maharlikaemerged as the Overall Champion, showcasing remarkable performance and teamwork throughout the different activities. Pangkat Lakbay secured the 1st Runner-Up spot, followed by Pangkat Bayani as 2nd Runner-Up, Pangkat Hiraya as 3rd Runner-Up, and Pangkat Kasaysayan as 4th Runner-Up.

The awarding ceremony recognized not only the winning teams but also the effort, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship demonstrated by every freshman throughout the celebration.

The cultural competitions brought out the creativity and talents of the CBMA freshmen through the Speech Choir, Spoken Poetry, and Singing Contest.

In the Speech Choir, Pangkat Maharlika claimed the championship, followed by Pangkat Lakbay as 1st Runner-Up and Pangkat Hiraya as 2nd Runner-Up.

For the Spoken Poetry competition, Pangkat Lakbay emerged as champion, with Pangkat Bayani placing 1st, Pangkat Maharlika 2nd, Pangkat Hiraya 3rd, and Pangkat Kasaysayan 4th.

The Singing Contest also showcased the vocal talents of the freshmen, with Pangkat Maharlika taking the championship. Pangkat Bayani placed 1st, Pangkat Lakbay 2nd, and Pangkat Kasaysayan 3rd.

The energy grew even stronger during the Yell Competition, where each team proudly showcased its identity, confidence, and unity. Pangkat Lakbay claimed the championship, followed by Pangkat Maharlika, Pangkat Bayani, Pangkat Hiraya, and Pangkat Kasaysayan in the succeeding places.

The freshmen also took part in exciting games that tested their teamwork, speed, strategy, and coordination. In Protect Your Team Captain, Pangkat Maharlika emerged as champion, followed by Pangkat Bayani, Pangkat Lakbay, Pangkat Hiraya, and Pangkat Kasaysayan.

For the Sack Race, Pangkat Maharlika once again claimed the championship, followed by Pangkat Lakbay, Pangkat Kasaysayan, Pangkat Hiraya, and Pangkat Bayani.

Meanwhile, Pangkat Bayani dominated the Find Your Team challenge, securing the championship, followed by Pangkat Hiraya, Pangkat Maharlika, Pangkat Lakbay, and Pangkat Kasaysayan.

As the awarding ceremony brought the celebration to a close, the CBMA Freshmen Orientation and General Assembly proved to be more than a competition. It became an avenue for freshmen to build friendships, discover their talents, strengthen teamwork, and create meaningful memories as they began their journey in the College of Business Management and Accountancy.

From the vibrant cultural presentations to the powerful team yells and thrilling games, every pangkat brought its own energy and pride to the celebration.

STI West Negros University Community Unites in Thanksgiving and Prayer Through the Holy Eucharist

The STI West Negros University community gathered in faith and thanksgiving for a Holy Eucharistic Celebration, entrusting the University's hopes, aspirations, and endeavors to God's loving care. The celebration served as a meaningful opportunity for students, faculty, administrators, and staff to seek the Lord's wisdom, guidance, strength, protection, and abundant blessings as the academic year continues.

This Eucharistic Celebration was generously sponsored by the College of Business Management and Accountancy (CBMA), whose dedication and support made the solemn gathering possible.

During the celebration, the University offered prayers of thanksgiving for the outstanding achievement of the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) in the August 2026 Criminology Licensure Examination, recording an impressive 85.25% overall passing rate, well above the 57.26% national passing rate. The community rejoiced in this milestone, recognizing the unwavering commitment of the faculty, graduates, and everyone who contributed to this remarkable success.

Special intentions were also offered for all upcoming board examination takers, particularly the Education graduates who will take the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) on September 20, 2026. The University prayed for God's guidance, wisdom, courage, and peace as they prepare to embark on this significant milestone in their professional journey.

The celebration was made even more meaningful with the presence of the Mass Presider and Celebrant, Rev. Fr. Dave Treyes, who led the community in prayer and inspired everyone to continue placing their trust in God.

As one STI West Negros University family, the community remains steadfast in faith, united in gratitude, and committed to pursuing excellence with God at the center of every endeavor.
