🎤𝑻𝑨𝑳𝑲 𝑻𝑯𝑨𝑻 𝑻𝑨𝑳𝑲 — 𝑨𝑵𝑫 𝑾𝑬 𝑫𝑰𝑫! 🗣️

Code Quest: A Seminar on 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝟕 & 𝟖 was successfully conducted yesterday, September 11, 2026, bringing future architects together for an engaging and insightful discussion on Rules 7 & 8 of the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of the National Building Code of the Philippines (PD 1096).

The program opened with remarks from 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫. 𝐕𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐘. 𝐀𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚, 𝐏𝐡𝐃, 𝐓𝐌, 𝐄𝐝𝐃, who emphasized the importance of preparing ourselves to become architects whom people can trust to build their homes. This reminder highlighted why understanding the building code is essential—not only as part of our professional responsibility, but also in ensuring that the spaces we design are safe, functional, and responsive to the needs of the people who will use them.

The first part of the program, Code Quest: A Seminar on Rules 7 & 8, featured 𝐀𝐫. 𝐀𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐒. 𝐒𝐨𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐨, 𝐔𝐀𝐏, 𝐑𝐌𝐏, who discussed the fundamentals of the National Building Code of the Philippines, focusing on Rules 7 and 8 and their application in architectural practice. His discussion covered various developmental controls, including types of lots, setbacks, Percentage of Site Occupancy (PSO), Allowable Maximum Building Footprint (AMBF), building height limits, allowable MVB, and other essential considerations in planning and design.

The discussion continued with 𝐀𝐫. 𝐀𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐨, 𝐔𝐀𝐏, and 𝐀𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐙𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐳𝐚, 𝐔𝐀𝐏, who together discussed the practical application of Rules 7 and 8, emphasizing the principle of maximizing the natural environment while minimizing the built environment. Their discussion highlighted the importance of natural light, ventilation, open spaces, and other development considerations in creating better and more responsive architectural spaces.

To further engage the students, the speakers also conducted a quiz trivia, allowing participants to apply what they had learned throughout the discussions, with prizes awarded to those who answered. This was followed by the certificate awarding and photo opportunities with the speakers and students.

The program concluded with the witty yet meaningful closing remarks of 𝐀𝐫. 𝐑.𝐌. 𝐋𝐚𝐨, who expressed his appreciation to the speakers, organizers, and students for their participation and contribution to the success of the event.

We extend our sincere appreciation to 𝐀𝐫. 𝐀𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐨, 𝐔𝐀𝐏, 𝐀𝐫. 𝐀𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐒. 𝐒𝐨𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐨, 𝐔𝐀𝐏, 𝐑𝐌𝐏, and 𝐀𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐙𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐳𝐚, 𝐔𝐀𝐏, for sharing their knowledge and expertise and helping students better understand the provisions and practical applications of the building code.

Your commitment to future architects has greatly contributed to the event's success, and we appreciate your ongoing support for initiatives that provide meaningful opportunities for students in the architectural profession.

𝗨𝗔𝗣𝗦𝗔 𝗟𝗖𝗖𝗕 𝗚𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗗𝗔𝗨𝗜𝗡, 𝗡𝗘𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗦 𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟!🌊🏝️

Last September 5, 2026, the UAPSA LCCB proudly took part in the SAND Esquisse Competition held in Dauin, Negros Oriental.

Organized by the UAPSA – Foundation University Chapter, the competition brought together students who shared one space, one theme, and different ways of turning ideas into something we could see and experience.

With this year’s theme, “𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗡: 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗲𝘀, 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲,” each team was challenged to create a concept that speaks through form, space, and imagination. More than just building with sand, the competition reminded us that architecture can also be a way of telling stories, expressing ideas, and giving meaning to the simplest materials.

Thank you to UAPSA-FU for inviting us and giving us the opportunity to be part of this meaningful event. We are grateful for the experience, the friendships, and the lessons we get to bring home with us, until next time!

🏛️𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧 2027 – 𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗔 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗟𝗖𝗖𝗕! 🏛️

Earlier today, September 1, 2026, the UAPSA–LCCB community had the pleasure of welcoming the ArchiNEXT 2027 – ILAYA team at AVC, 3rd Floor, La Consolacion College Bacolod.

With this year's theme, “ILAYA: Reimagining Civic Centers as Spaces for the People,” architecture students were encouraged to look beyond the physical structures of civic centers and explore how architecture can create meaningful spaces that foster connection, culture, inclusivity, and community engagement.

The program commenced with an inspiring Opening Remarks from our Dean, setting the tone for an afternoon of learning and reflection. We were then honored to hear from our distinguished guest speakers, Mr. John Gabriel Mañoza, Mr. Paul Wu, and Ar. Francis De Los Reyes, who generously shared their professional experiences, design philosophies, and valuable insights on the evolving role of architecture in shaping communities. Their discussions challenged us to think critically, design purposefully, and envision civic spaces that truly serve the people.

The event concluded with Closing Remarks delivered by Ar. Perlyn Olarte-Violanda, who expressed gratitude to everyone who made the event possible and encouraged students to carry forward the lessons and inspiration gained from the session.

On behalf of UAPSA–LCCB, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the ArchiNEXT 2027 Team for visiting our institution and sharing your vision, expertise, and passion for architecture. Your dedication to empowering future architects through meaningful conversations and learning opportunities has left a lasting impact on our students.
