ABM Students Take the Lead in Business Heritage Tour and Career Talk
The ABM/Business Strand students of La Consolacion College Bacolod Senior High School, in collaboration with TVL Tourism and TVL – Hospitality Management and Culinary (HMC), successfully conducted a Business Heritage Tour and Career Talk on March 17, 2026.
The morning session featured a Career Talk with industry speakers Ian Deduiña Jamili, and Marivic C. Sayo, MBA, LPT, who shared real-world insights on business, hospitality, and tourism careers. With 63 students in attendance, the session helped learners better understand industry expectations and prepare for their future work immersion.
As highlighted by Dr. Anie O. Diaz, LPT, Senior High School Academic Coordinator:
“Business and tourism are among the most in-demand careers today. This activity helps our students understand the real industry and prepares them for the future they are choosing.”
In the afternoon, students participated in a Business Heritage Tour across key establishments in Bacolod City, guided by ABM and TVL faculty.
The first stop was the Negros Museum, where ABM students explored how cultural assets can be managed as part of a business. They learned about pricing, cost considerations, and how museums can be used as venues for events and business activities. At the same time, TVL students enhanced their skills in tour guiding and understanding local heritage.
The second stop was McDonald’s Forbes Hill, where students were introduced to real workplace expectations and the importance of on-the-job training. The session, facilitated by Ms. Liza Hubierna and Ms. Renelyn, emphasized that while classroom learning provides knowledge, actual work experience builds real skills. Students also experienced a short interactive moment that reminded them of the importance of maintaining a positive attitude even in a busy work environment.
The final stop was The Ruins, where students observed how a heritage site is managed not only as a tourist destination but also as a business establishment. ABM students gained insights into operations management, marketing strategies, and how proper branding and customer experience contribute to business sustainability. This allowed them to connect business concepts with real-life applications in the tourism setting.
This whole-day activity allowed ABM students to connect classroom learning with real-world application, strengthening their understanding of business while working alongside their peers in Tourism and Hospitality.
The ABM/Business Strand continues to provide meaningful industry exposure and practical learning experiences, preparing students to become competitive and future-ready professionals.
