Today, we celebrate the legacy and life of one of the renowned 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒚𝒔𝒕, who is best known for pioneering the concept of the "𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀" and believed that it was one of the most important conflicts people face during the developmental process.

He spent his life trying to understand how human beings form their identities, marking a significant shift on how we think about personality.

His groundbreaking work reminds us that every stage of life represents opportunities and explains how social experiences and relationships influence who we become over time.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 12, 1898, Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐭, 𝐂𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐞, effectively ending Spanish rule in the archipelago.

Today, we commemorate the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of the Filipinos who fought for our freedom from over 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙪𝙡𝙚. As we honor the sacrifices of our heroes who paved the way for our liberty, and their commitment in building a better future for all Filipinos.

A powerful reminder that 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒔 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒂𝒔 𝒑𝒉𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉. This month, let us raise awareness about the mental and emotional challenges that many men experience but may not openly discuss.

A stigmatism rooted in tradition is hard to break. For years, men were told to "𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐩" and that "𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐜𝐫𝐲". Because of this, the stigmatism of men being silent and emotionless has significantly affected their well-being while growing up. These stereotypes also have a bad impact on the way they feel their emotions and ask for help. On the contrary, men are less likely to seek professional help, especially in mental health.

As men are known for being silent about their struggles, it is the true strength that lies in acknowledging emotions and reaching out for help.

Sociocultural status, fatherhood, and culture can affect how men experience and address mental health struggles. Based on 𝐀𝐃𝐀𝐀 (𝐀𝐧𝐱𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 & 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚), 1 out of 10 men experiences anxiety and depression, but almost less than half receive treatment.

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 06, 2026, the 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒂 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 𝑩𝒂𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒅 successfully held its 𝑻𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒚, at the 𝑨𝒏𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒂 𝑯𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒖𝒎𝒂 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓, marking the official transition of leadership from the outgoing to the newly elected officers for Academic Year 2026-2027. Before the ceremony began, the outgoing and incoming officers read the Turnover Rites, this prepared by their 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐋. 𝐎𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐬, 𝐑𝐏𝐦, 𝐂𝐇𝐑𝐀.

Followed by a heartwarming message from the outgoing president, 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐫𝐚. She fully supported and assured the newly elected officers. As the newly elected 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 of 𝙋𝙨𝙮𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙎𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮, 𝑪𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒆𝒄𝒂 in her acceptance speech expressed her dedication and confidence by accepting the role of being president.

As one chapter closes and another begins, may the Psychology Society continue to inspire compassion, understanding, and unity among its members.

As the next academic year approaches, we take a moment to look back on 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒖𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔.
