TEACHER ALVIN JAMILI: SAILING BEYOND BACOLOD AS PHILIPPINE YOUTH AMBASSADOR
BACOLOD CITY โ For a public school teacher, every classroom is a world of its own. But for Alvin Bryan D. Jamili, the world itself is about to become his classroom โ as he sets sail as one of the Philippines' official youth ambassadors to the 50th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP).
From Bacolodโs Classrooms to the High Seas
A proud Bacolodnon and Negrense, Jamili is a 2017 graduate of the University of St. La SalleโBacolod, where he earned his Bachelor of Secondary Education degree, majoring in Social Studies. Today, he serves as a dedicated public school teacher with the Department of Education, Division of Bacolod City, shaping young minds and nurturing future leaders.
His journey has already been marked by distinction: he was named a national finalist for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP), a testament to his academic excellence and commitment to service. But this new chapter is truly one for the books.
A Dream Confirmed
On August 17, 2026, the National Youth Commission (NYC) formally confirmed his selection as a Participating Youth in the Philippine contingent to the historic 50th SSEAYP โ a program organized by the Government of Japan in cooperation with all ASEAN member nations.
For Jamili, this is more than a personal achievement. It is a chance to carry the stories, identity, and aspirations of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, and the entire Negros Island Region across borders and oceans.
The Voyage of "Batch Sinagtala"
As part of Batch Sinagtala, Jamili will join young leaders from across the Philippines and the ASEAN region for a journey that blends cultural exchange, leadership development, and deep friendship. The ship will visit countries across Southeast Asia and Japan, offering opportunities for dialogue, study visits, and meaningful connections with youth from diverse backgrounds.
But his mission doesn't end when the ship docks.
"I hope to bring home the knowledge, perspectives, and experiences gained from this program and share these with my learners, fellow educators, and the communities I serve," Jamili shared.
