The Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office has directed schools and field offices nationwide to use short films produced by DepEd Negros Island Region (NIR) as teaching tools for peace education and student well-being programs.
The directive, issued July 24 through Advisory No. 133, s. 2026, was released by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and External Partnerships in support of DepEd NIR's "Powering Empathy, Acceptance, and Connection Every Day" (PEACE) Campaign.
Started by DepEd NIR Regional Director Dr. Ramir B. Uytico, CESO III, the regional initiative aims to build safe, inclusive and harassment-free schools across the Negros Island Region by institutionalizing school-based activities that prevent bullying and address the underlying causes of student conflict.
Seven films were selected out of 20 entries submitted under the PEACE campaign: Biboy Ba't Ka Galit? (SDO Bayawan City), Ang Lima ka Tayho (SDO Silay City), The Weight of Silence (SDO La Carlota City), Paghilom (SDO Siquijor), Ranir (SDO Escalante City), Lapis (SDO Dumaguete City), and Himakas (SDO Bago City).
Under the advisory, field offices nationwide are encouraged to incorporate the PEACE short films into classroom discussions, guidance programs, and campus anti-bullying initiatives.
The full catalog of PEACE short films and their streaming links are available on the DepEd website, www.deped.gov.ph, and on DepEd NIR's Official page and the DepEd NIR-LRMDS Youtube Channel.*
