Today's lesson: There is no such thing as a natural disaster.🧑‍🏫

Teachers have a responsibility to empower the next generation to understand what actually drives disaster losses.

Hazards may occur naturally. But disasters unfold when hazards meet exposure and vulnerability. These are shaped by where people live, how infrastructure is built, and who has access to early warning systems.💡

Teaching the human causes behind disasters – rather than framing them as natural – gives students a stronger starting point: risk reduction is something people can learn and practise.

📍 Where communities are located shapes who faces risk.
🏗️ How infrastructure is planned shapes how hazards translate into loss.
📡 Access to early warning determines who has time to act.

The students of today do not have to accept a future of disasters. They can grow up reducing risk, building resilience and practising preparedness.

Understanding the human decisions that shape disasters is the first step towards a resilient future.

Para sa emergencies, maaaring tumawag sa 911. Ito ay konektado sa police, medical, fire, at disaster responders. Bukas at libre ang tawag 24/7.
