As we welcome another academic year, we also welcome new opportunities, new experiences, and new people who will help shape the future of our department.

The ๐’๐€๐‘๐…๐€๐ˆ๐ƒ ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐œ๐ข๐ฅ is now opening its doors to students from ๐€๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž, ๐…๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐€๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ, and ๐ˆ๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐จ๐ซ ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง who are willing to serve, contribute, and grow alongside their fellow students.

We believe that every student, regardless of year level, has something valuable to offer. New voices, fresh ideas, and different perspectives are essential in helping our community move forward.

More than anything, we hope to build a council that genuinely represents the students it serves. ๐’๐€๐‘๐…๐€๐ˆ๐ƒ has always been more than a departmentโ€”it is a community shaped by the people within it. As we begin another school year, we are looking for individuals who are willing to share their time, talents, and commitment in helping create meaningful opportunities for fellow students.

The council is not built by one person alone. It is made up of students with different strengths, perspectives, and experiences, all working toward a shared purpose: fostering a student community that is engaged, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of the department.

You do not need previous leadership experience or a long list of achievements to apply. What matters is your willingness to learn, collaborate with others, take initiative, and contribute where you can. Whether you enjoy organizing events, working behind the scenes, creating projects, communicating with students, or bringing new ideas to the table, your contribution matters.

If you believe you can contribute to that vision, we encourage you to take the chance and be part of the next ๐’๐€๐‘๐…๐€๐ˆ๐ƒ ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐œ๐ข๐ฅ.

Congratulations to our very own SARFAID Council Adviser, Ar. Jill Lim! ๐Ÿ’œ

Urban mobility, accessibility, and sustainable city planning take center stage at the 9th International Conference on Multidisciplinary Research (9th ICMR).

Congratulations to Ar. Louisel Jill Lim, Architecture Faculty, La Consolacion College Bacolod, for the acceptance of the paper:

โ€œSidewalk Design in the Downtown Area of Bacolod City: An Assessment of Physical Quality, Safety, and Sustainabilityโ€

This study examined the physical quality, safety, and sustainability of sidewalks within the downtown area of Bacolod City, highlighting the critical role of pedestrian infrastructure in creating inclusive and livable urban environments. Through field observations and stakeholder evaluations, the research identified key factors affecting walkability, accessibility, and pedestrian comfort.

Findings revealed several challenges, including sidewalk obstructions, deteriorated surfaces, inadequate accessibility features, poor lighting, drainage issues, and limited environmental comfort. These conditions were found to negatively affect pedestrian safety and mobility, underscoring the need for improvements in urban design and infrastructure planning.

The study proposes sidewalk design guidelines that prioritize accessibility, safety, sustainability, and pedestrian-centered development. By promoting walkable public spaces, the research contributes to ongoing efforts toward creating safer, healthier, and more resilient cities for all.
