In the age of AI, there’s a paradox.
With infinite knowledge just a click away, students don’t need teachers less—they need them more.
They need teachers to challenge them, believe in them, and push them to do hard things now that are good for them later. This is the work of education—and it’s more important than ever. 💪📚

Flourishing through Collaboration and Citizen Science - Floral Diversity Assessment in Bacolod City Schools
After six months of rigorous fieldwork, coordination, and community engagement, the Floral Diversity Team led by Rose Marie Getida, Arvil Jules Alagban, Eia Nasel Tillana, Xenon Jay Relota et al. And their support citizen scientists proudly marks the successful completion of their assessment in 72 elementary and secondary schools across Bacolod City.
This milestone would not have been possible without the support of our partners in the Schools Division of Bacolod City. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Former Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Reynaldo G. Gico, Dr. Edna Rose P. Gueco, Education Program Supervisor for Science, and to Dr. Grace M. Abao and Dr. Jose Donnie Sajonja, whose support and provision of a Division memorandum ensured seamless school coordination.
We are also grateful to all Public Schools District Supervisors, school principals, school heads, and teachers who openly welcomed our team and facilitated data collection with commitment.
Our thanks also go to the parents of our main work unit and support units whose patience, encouragement, and logistical support sustained our team throughout the project timeline.
Lastly, we recognize Mr. Phillip Raymund R. De Oca for his unwavering dedication, strategic management, and stewardship that helped bring this initiative to full bloom.
Together, we cultivated not just data—but a shared sense of environmental stewardship and research culture in Bacolod City's public schools. 🌺📊
Moving forward to paper completion and publication!

The Passereaux - Bacolod City NHS Research and Engagement Club extends its heartfelt thanks to the Division of Silay City for inviting Mr. Phillip Raymund R. De Oca, former club president Rose Marie Getida, current club president Arvil Jules Alagban, and Passereaux researchers to take part in a meaningful Research Workshop with DepEd Silay student researchers.
During the two-day training, Mr. De Oca introduced a framework for establishing a sustainable research program, equipping learners with a long-term vision for responsible and inclusive research. This was followed by a hands-on session on the basics of conducting a systematic review to strengthen their methodological foundation.
The second day concluded with an engaging Urban Biodiversity Workshop, led by Mr. De Oca and former Passereaux researchers, further expanding students’ appreciation of local ecosystems and scientific inquiry.
Thank you, DepEd Silay, for fostering collaborative and transformative research experiences. Together, we continue to build a generation of critical thinkers and solution-driven researchers. 🌱🔬📚
