Strengthening its commitment to global visibility, internationalization, and academic mobility, Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod (CSAB) participated in the 2026 Filipino Leaders in Advancing International Reputation (FLAIR) – Visayas Leg, organized by CHED IAS in partnership with CHED Negros Island Region.

Representing CSAB were Dr. Noeda Madamesila, VPRIE; Donah Banaticla, ERIL Officer; and Roland Leonillo, RPO Director.

Through FLAIR, CSAB continues to strengthen international linkages, academic and research mobility, and its global presence.

From local impact to global presence, CSAB continues to advance.

The Research and Publications Office of Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod launches SIKHAY 2026: Augustinian Research Dialogue, a venue for students and faculty researchers to share ideas, defend proposals, present completed studies, and engage in meaningful scholarly conversations.

Guided by this year’s theme, “𝙁𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣 𝘼𝙪𝙜𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝘾𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙄𝙣𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙧𝙮, 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 𝘿𝙞𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙪𝙚", SIKHAY celebrates research as a continuing pursuit of knowledge, discovery, and service to the community.

Educators and students from Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod (CSAB) participated in the 2nd Negros Island and Siquijor Region Student Teachers Summit and Classroom-Based Action Research (CBAR) Congress held on August 22, 2026, at Silliman University, Dumaguete City.

With the theme “Student Teaching Matters: Inspiring Excellence through Reflective Instruction and Action Research,” the event brought together educators and pre-service teachers for meaningful learning and exchange on classroom-based action research, digital ethics, qualitative research, and reflective teaching practices.

The participation reflects CSAB’s continuing commitment to strengthening research culture, innovative teaching practices, and research engagement among educators and future educators.

Colegio San Agustin–Bacolod (CSAB) strengthened its commitment to responsible and ethical AI use in research through the participation of Roland S. Leonillo, Research and Publications Director, and Rheene Rose O. Bajon, Research Ethics Committee Chairperson, in the four-part workshop “Responsible AI Use in Research: From Prompting to Declaration,” held on August 19–20, 2026, at the Dr. Mariano C. Lao Global Studies Center of Silliman University

Facilitated by Dr. Dave E. Marcial, the workshop covered responsible GenAI use and prompting, AI-assisted literature review and evidence synthesis, AI for data analysis and visualization, and standardized AI declaration with emphasis on privacy, confidentiality, and responsible disclosure.

The training further strengthens CSAB’s initiatives in research capacity, research ethics, academic integrity, and responsible AI literacy, reinforcing a research culture grounded in innovation, transparency, integrity, and responsible scholarship.

𝘾𝙎𝘼𝘽 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 𝙀𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙚 𝙊𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙏𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧

The Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Engagement, led by Dr. Noeda Madamesila, conducted the Research Ethics Committee (REC) Orientation and Turnover.

The activity marked the formal transition of responsibilities as outgoing REC Chair Kurt Guirnela and Secretary Rose Marla Fernando turned over the committee documents to incoming REC Chair Rheene Rose Bajon and Secretary Kyro Belmonte.

During the meeting, the roles, responsibilities, expectations, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for School Year 2026–2027 were presented to guide the committee in advancing ethical and responsible research at CSAB.

A heartfelt thank you to Sir Kurt and Miss Marla for your dedicated service, leadership, and valuable contributions to the Research Ethics Committee. Your work has helped strengthen the foundation for ethical research in our institution.

The Basic Education Department – Senior High School, in collaboration with the Research and Publications Office (RPO), successfully conducted START SMART: Formulating Research Problem Vol. 2 on August 14, 2026, via Zoom.

The session opened with an inspiring message from Dr. Noeda Madamesila, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Engagement, followed by an orientation on the institutional research process led by Mr. Roland S. Leonillo, RPO Director. Students were introduced to the research process, ethics clearance requirements, research paper structure, and RPO support services.

Students then joined strand-specific breakout sessions facilitated by:

➡️ Applied Sciences : Mr. Kurt M. Guirnela, MScS and Engr. Jerome Javier
➡️ Social Sciences: Ms. Lea Mae Gallego

The session challenged our Grade 12 researchers to transform ideas into relevant, researchable, and manageable research problems.
