SBE Joins National Earthquake and Fire Drills

SBE actively participated in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill and Fire Drill held on September 10 at 2:00 PM. Teachers, learners, and school staff joined the activity to strengthen disaster preparedness and emergency response.

Participants practiced “Duck, Cover, and Hold” for earthquakes and “Stop, Drop, and Roll” for fire emergencies. The school also reviewed the “Run, Hide, and Fight” response for active-shooting situations.

The activity was observed by representatives from the OCD, CDRRMO, PNP, Philippine Red Cross, City Health Office, and BFP, highlighting the importance of safety, preparedness, and resilience in the SBE community.

SBE NEWS | SBE Participates in JumpStart 2026

The School of Basic Education section representatives of STI West Negros University gathered at the STIWNU Gymnasium for "JumpStart" on August 7, 2026. The program served as the university's official welcome activity for both new and returning college students as they began the new academic year.

Through a series of engaging activities, performances, and fellowship, "JumpStart" fostered camaraderie, school spirit, and a strong sense of community among STIers. The event also introduced campus culture and encouraged active student participation as STIWNU opened its doors for another year of learning and growth.

SBE NEWS | Grade 10 Students Hold Final Defense for Science Investigatory Project

Grade 10 students commenced their final defense for the Science Investigatory Project (SIP) today at 7:30 AM at the SBE Library. The activity serves as the culminating requirement of their research work, aiming to enhance students’ scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through practical investigation.

The defense is led by their advisers, Ms. Ma. Maecy Dela Cruz and Ms. Glennis Marie Señeres. Serving as panelists are Ms. Lency Rosana, Ms. Rialyn Baja, and Mr. Gem Anthony Saul, who are evaluating the students’ research content, methodology, and presentation.

The SIP defense marks a significant milestone for the Grade 10 students, as it not only highlights their academic growth but also prepares them for more advanced research work in the future.

SBE NEWS | STIWNU Holds Fire Drill

STI West Negros University conducted a fire drill this morning at 8:00 a.m. on April 16, 2026, to promote campus safety and preparedness.

Students, faculty, and staff evacuated their buildings and assembled at the Student Activity Center (SAC), practicing proper emergency procedures. The drill aims to prepare the university community to respond quickly and effectively during emergencies.

Itinanghal ang sigla ng kasaysayan sa ginanap na pagtatanghal ng dulang Bonifacio: “Ang Supremo”, na hango sa buhay at kabayanihan ni Andres Bonifacio at sa diwa ng pagiging makabayan, sa STIWNU noong umaga ng Marso 27, 2026.

Layunin nitong mapalalim ang kaalaman ng kabataan tungkol sa kasaysayan. Sa pamamagitan ng pagganap sa entablado, naipakita ang mahahalagang pangyayari sa buhay ni Bonifacio. Humanga ang mga manonood sa emosyonal na pagganap ng mga aktor at sa makatotohanang mga eksena na tila nagbalik sa kasaysayan.

SBE NEWS — Grade 5 Student Desquitado Secures Silver and Bronze in NIRAAM Chess

Aezen V. Desquitado, a Grade 5 Aqua student from STI West Negros University, earned medals in the Elementary Girls Chess category during the Negros Island Region Athletic Association Meet (NIRAAM) 2026 held from March 1–6, 2026 at the Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center.

Desquitado secured a Silver Medal in the Team Standard Event and a Bronze Medal in the Team Blitz Event, contributing to her team’s success in the regional competition.

The young athlete was guided by Coach Jamaica A. Valderama, with Sheena Grace Tigle serving as chaperone. Desquitado’s performance highlights her dedication and skill in chess, bringing pride to her school and community.

Channell Joy E. Valencia, a Grade 7 Ruby student of STI West Negros University, proudly earned medals during the Negros Island Region Athletic Association Meet (NIRAAM) 2026 held from March 1–6, 2026 at the Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center.
