Domingo Lacson National High School (DLNHS) reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive learning environment through its Gender and Development (GAD) Training on “Fostering Gender-Responsive and Child-Safe Schools.”
The training provided teachers and school personnel with an opportunity to enhance their understanding of gender responsiveness, gender sensitivity, child protection, and the importance of creating learning environments where every child is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.
Through meaningful discussions, interactive activities, and reflection, participants were encouraged to examine existing practices and identify ways to make the school more responsive to the diverse needs and experiences of learners. The activity emphasized that gender-responsive education goes beyond awareness—it requires concrete actions that promote equality, inclusivity, respect, and protection.
The training also highlighted the vital role of school personnel in ensuring that learners are protected from discrimination, bullying, abuse, harassment, and other forms of harm. A child-safe school is one where children feel secure, listened to, respected, and empowered to participate actively in their learning and development.
For DLNHS, fostering a gender-responsive and child-safe school is a shared responsibility. It calls for the collective commitment of school leaders, teachers, non-teaching personnel, parents, learners, and the wider school community.
