DMMMSU-SRDI

DMMMSU-SRDI Sericulture Reseach & Development Institute Sericulture at DMMMSU started as a research project of the Department of Plant Science of the North La Union campus.

It served as a training ground for students to learn the art and science of growing silkworms. In early 1981โ€™s, DMMMSU was a recipient of the National Sericulture R and D Program of the Philippines spearheaded by PCARRD. That time, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) provided funds for the construction of reeling machines that transforms the cocoons to silk yarns. The success of t

he project led to its institutionalization thus the creation of the Sericulture Research and Development Center in 1987. Five years later, the Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI) was created on April 8, 1992 through Republic Act No. 7359 as the national center for sericulture in the country.

Demonstrating excellence and commitment to professional growth, two personnel of the Sericulture Research and Development Institute successfully passed the March 08, 2026 Career Service Examination โ€“ Professional Level.

With only 48,735 out of 307,489 examinees nationwide successfully passing the March 2026 Career Service Examination โ€“ Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT), recording a national passing rate of only 15.85%, this achievement stands as a testament to the dedication, perseverance, and competence of the instituteโ€™s personnel.

Their achievement reflects not only their commitment to excellence in public service, but also the values of hard work, determination, and continuous professional development upheld by the institute.

The institute extends its warmest congratulations to them for this remarkable accomplishment. May this success inspire them to continue striving for greater heights and serving with integrity, competence, and excellence.
