"WALANG PAMUGARAN, WALANG LAMOK, WALANG DENGUE"

SES athlete qualifies for 2026 Bicol Meet

After winning bronze and silver medals in lawn tennis competition during the Palarong Panlalawigan 2026 held at Albay Provincial Sports Center, Guinobatan, Albay last January 26-30, 2026, Kenra Mathel Benosa qualified for 2026 Bicol Meet.

In line with Division Memorandum No. 410, series of 2025, Benosa, a grade five pupil of Sogod Elementary School, was among the Cluster A tennis delegation and competed against the two other congressional districts in Albay. Benosa bagged bronze and silver medals in singles and mixed doubles competition, respectively.

Along with Benosa, three other tennis athletes of Cluster A during the provincial-level competition also earned spots for 2026 Bicol Meet. One is Alwin Dave Basilan of Igang Elementary School, Bacacay East District, who was Benosa’s tennis partner in mixed doubles. The other two girl athletes are from San Jose Elementary School, Malilipot District.

Additionally, Chrislyn Dado, a teacher from San Jose Elementary School coached the team while Henry C. Hernandez, a tennis-enthusiast teacher from Sogod Elementary School trained both boy and girl players.

“Kenra stood by the game plan and competed well. Being attentive to details and performing the techniques led her to winning,” Hernandez said in an interview.

The 2026 Palarong Bicol is set to take place on March 1-7, 2026 at Legazpi City.
