Walking the Extra Mile!

These teachers from Cabasan National High School, Bacacay South District had to get soaked to catch up with the low tide during a home visit in Brgy. Tanagan, Bacacay, Albay.

In an interview with Edmundo Bequio, Master Teacher I of the said school, he said that the home visit was conducted to identify the situation of their students coming from far places and how they can encourage them to avoid absenteeism.

โ€œMas naiintidihan mi po kun nata arog kaan ang behavior kan samong eskwela. ( Mas naiintindihan namin ang ugali ng aming mga mag-aaral). Dahil dun, mas nakukua mi kun pano mi sinda sasabuton ngane mas ma-encourage me sinda na magklase (Dahil doon, mas mauunawaan namin sila at mas nahihimok na mag-aral),โ€ he said.

The Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Education (S.H.A.R.E) Caravan addressed adolescent reproductive health issues in five secondary schools in Schools Division of Albay.

Held on March 13 to 15, 2024, the caravan provided students with necessary knowledge to make informed decisions regarding their reproductive health in Naga National High School, Malinao National High School, Malilipot National High School, Vinisitahan National High School and Bonga National High School.

Themed "Know, Protect, and Love Yourself," this was aimed at educating students aged 15 years old and above on Adolescent Reproductive Health.

This featured discussions led by experts in the field, including SDO Nurse II, Allyn Z. Loneza, who talked about Adolescent Reproductive Health. Paul Roland Pomendia, Cabasan National High School Senior High School Coordinator and HIV Counselor, discussed Knowing and Loving My Own Identity, Expression, and Orientation.

Moreover, Nick Rafael Berces, Sanitary Inspector and Local Government Unit of Tabaco President, delivered a session on Protecting Myself Away from Having Sexually Transmitted Infections.

CNHS carries out career guidance for Grade 10 and 12 students

To facilitate the learners on the selection of the best path they will pursue in Senior High School (SHS) and in Tertiary School, Cabasan National High School (CNHS) conducted two-day career guidance for Grade 10 and 12 students last March 25-26, 2024 at CNHS SHS building.

The featured discussions on day 1 are Roles of Parents in Child's Career Choice talked by Jericho Bandin and Senior High School Track and Strand/ Filling up SHS Preference Slip tackled by Roy Bermundo.

Moreover, Module 1: "Embarking on a Journey of Self-Awareness," Module 2: "Examining the Destination," and Module 3: "Charting on your Own Course," were conversed by the Grade 10 teachers including Irene Bernal, Michelle Montas, Carla May Bonto, and Ernie Baraquiel.

On the second day, tertiary schools in Bacacay and Tabaco City including Amando Cope College, Tabaco College, Daniel B. Peรฑa Memorial College, Dr. Ruby Lanting- Casaul Education, Inc., and Bicol Training and Technological College, Inc. presented their school's program on senior high school strands and college courses.

In addition different government agencies were present at the venue. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Program Orientation was discussed by Ms. Riza Mae Huab, a bussiness councilor and head of DTI Negosyo Center (Bacacay), Andres Barcellano, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager (Bacacay), delivered a PESO Program Orientation, and Ma. Elysa Deris, HRMO Local Government Unit Bacacay, talked on Human Resource Management Process Orientation.

Through the help of Mayor Edsel Belleza and Andres Barcellano, selected Grade 12 and the Alternative Learning System (ALS) students will receive five slots for Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), five slots for Government Internship Program (GIP), and 30 slots for Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).

The former Department of Science and Technology (DOST) scholars and now both SHS teachers, Zeah Joy Banan and Norman Baludoya, explained the DOST Scholarship and Grant and Other Government Scholarships. Furthermore, Paul Roland Pomendia, CNHS SHS Coordinator, presented Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Programs and Scholarships and other Skilled Scholarships.

Last part of the program was on the Curriculum Exit by CNHS Guidance Councelor Designate, Sherry Bola, and CNHS Alumni Testimonials by Cabasan Sanggunian Kabataan Chairman Meynard Macasalabang.

This career guidance was spearheaded by Antonette Botial, Junior High School Guidance Counselor Designate and Sherry Bola, SHS Guidance Counselor Designate.

Dressmaking students of CNHS knit 10 bed rolls

The dressmaking students of Cabasan National High School wove 10 bed rolls for Palarong Bicol 2024.

This was possible through the supervision of Mrs. Mary June Bellen, a dressmaking teacher from the Junior High School department and with the support of Dr. Christian Ivan B. Camarce, school head.

This project of Schools Division Office of Albay aims to support the athletes as their sleeping space during the entire duration of the training and competition.

To contribute to zero waste for a clean environment, the bed rolls were made of old fabrics and old clothes.

Thank you very much Cagraray District Hospital (CDH) medical team headed by Dr. Randie M. Asuncion, OIC-Chief of Hospital for free medical check-ups and free medicines given to the Grade 12 students of Cabasan National High School this day March 23, 2024.

Through the coordination of Ms. Keith Y. Bellen and Mrs. Hilda Borlasa, Immersion Coordinator to Ms. Kristelle Mae Torre-Balana, CDH Administrative Officer II, for the assistance, approval and making this medical mission possible.

This is a big help for the senior high school students to ensure that they are physically fit for the upcoming work immersion on April 29-May 12, 2024.

40 slots of voucher program grant to CNHS

Students from TVL HE and TVL AFA Strands of Cabasan National High School (CNHS) was given 40 slots for Joint Development Voucher Program (JDVP).

The Technical Vocational Institution (TVI) partner for this program is Merriam College headed by the school administrator, Noel Cerdena.

In an orientation yesterday March 25, 2024 at CNHS Senior High School building, Cerdena presented the JDVP guidelines and memorandum, 40 days JDVP Training Plan, cookery training, Cookery NCII Assessment, Free Insurance, and travel allowance.

The tuition fees of the students amounting to Php 12, 550.00 which covers Php 12,000.00 for training cost and Php 550.00 for Assessment Cost will be given by the Department of Education Central Office directly to the TVI partner.

Through the effort and coordination of Paul Roland Pomendia, CNHS JDVP coordinator, aided by Dr. Christian Ivan B. Camarce, school head and with the support of Jane ST. Revilla, Education Program Supervisor of TVL/TLE/SHS and head of JDVP Implementation in Albay, the substantial number of vouchers was granted to CNHS.
