When Hard Work Harvests Medals: Tagbakin Young Journalists Shine in Crossover APEX 2026
By: Tagbakin Elementary School Campus Journalism
Success does not happen overnight. It is built through determination, practice, patience, and the courage to keep trying. This was proven by the three young journalists of Tagbakin Elementary School who brought pride to their school after earning awards in the recently concluded Crossover APEX 2026 Training held by LGMCi.
The training became more than just a learning experience for the participants. It became a place where young writers and artists sharpened their skills, discovered their potential, and learned that every effort can lead to something meaningful.
Among the proud awardees was John Rufo E. Pera, who won 3rd Place in Editorial Cartooning under Maulawin Publikasyon, under the supervision of SPA Maryjane A. Villareal. Through his creative strokes and meaningful ideas, John showed how a simple drawing can communicate powerful messages.
Meanwhile, Maria Angela Tazon earned 3rd Place in Feature Writing (English), representing The Molave, the official publication of Tagbakin Elementary School, under the guidance of School Paper Adviser Laila U. Baliza. Her achievement reflected her ability to turn ordinary experiences into stories that inspire and connect with readers.
Another shining journalist, Miracle Samantha P. Anda, secured 2nd Place in Column Writing (English), also representing The Molave. Her achievement demonstrated the power of expressing ideas clearly, confidently, and meaningfully through words.
Behind these medals were countless hours of practice, revisions, brainstorming, and learning. The young journalists did not simply wait for success—they worked for it. Every written draft, every corrected mistake, and every practiced skill became a step toward the awards they eventually received.
Their achievements remind everyone that practice makes progress. The certificates of recognition and medals they received are not only symbols of victory but also reminders of their dedication and perseverance.
Their journey proves a simple but powerful lesson: when you have the will, you can do it—and when you work hard for it, you can achieve it.
The success of John, Maria Angela, and Miracle Samantha is a victory not only for themselves but also for Tagbakin Elementary School, its campus publications, their advisers, and the teachers who continue to support young journalists.
Indeed, the harvest of medals began with the seeds of determination. And for these three young journalists, the journey has only just begun.
