Honoring 40 Years of the EDSA People Power Revolution
Part 2 | Symposium
The symposium significantly deepened the commemoration of the 40th Year of the EDSA People Power Revolution, following a well-structured and meaningful program. It formally opened with the reading of the message of His Excellency Alberto “Abet” Uy, Archbishop of Cebu, which heightened the occasion by emphasizing the vital roles of faith, moral courage, social responsibility, and collective action in shaping a just and democratic society.
The program was further enriched by the valuable and informative discussion of the Resource Speaker, Jestoni T. Del Castillo, who provided historical clarity on the events and significance of the EDSA People Power Revolution. His presentation offered deeper insights into its peaceful nature, the participation of various sectors, and the enduring lessons it holds for present and future generations.
Adding a personal and compelling dimension to the symposium was the insightful testimony of Antonio O. Alconera, who shared his profound thoughts and personal reflections on the EDSA experience. His testimony brought the historical event closer to the audience, allowing participants to appreciate the sacrifices, courage, and unity demonstrated by Filipinos during that pivotal moment in history.
Culminating in the students’ learning and reflection, the symposium enabled the Michaelian and Laurentian Communities to internalize the core values of unity, peaceful resistance, active citizenship, and commitment to democracy. The activity served as a powerful reminder that the spirit of EDSA remains relevant today, inspiring the youth to uphold truth, justice, and social responsibility in their schools, communities, and the nation.

“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
United in faith and humility, the Laurentian and Michaelian communities came together to solemnly observe Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the Lenten journey. The Holy Mass was meaningfully celebrated by Fr. Christopher C. Amores, joined by the prayerful presence of Laurentian parents and guardians, as one community reflected, repented, and renewed their commitment to walk with Christ in faith, sacrifice, and love.
