"Quiet the mind, focus the soul. Midterm season is officially here. ๐ฏ๏ธ๐
While the stakes might feel high, remember that your worth isnโt defined by a single score, but by the persistence you show every single day. Success isn't about being perfect; itโs about showing up, giving your best effort, and refusing to quit when the material gets tough.
Take it one chapter at a time, one exam at a time, and one breath at a time. Youโve prepared for this moment, and you have exactly what it takes to succeed. Cheers to the late nights that turn into bright futures. Weโve got this. ๐"

Preserving Heritage on a Plate: BSHM Program Hosts Isneg Cuisine IEC and Cookfest
12I03I2025
CONNER, APAYAO โ In a vibrant display of cultural pride and culinary mastery, the EKB Clubhouse in Caglayan became the epicenter of indigenous preservation yesterday as the "IEC on Traditional Isneg Cuisines cm Cookfest Competition" took center stage.
The event combined academic rigor with hands-on competition, aiming to safeguard the unique gastronomic identity of the Isneg people for future generations.
Knowledge First: The Recipe for Preservation
The day commenced with an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) session, opened by Mr. Darylvic Sibal, Local Youth Development Officer, who acknowledged the diverse group of participants gathered to honor their roots.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Mr. Leandro B. Alla, a faculty member of the Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) and the celebrated author of the Traditional Isneg Cuisine Recipe Guidebook. Mr. Alla provided an exhaustive look into the Isneg pantry, discussing:
โข Traditional Staples: A deep dive into appetizers, main courses, and side dishes.
โข The Rare and Exotic: Insights into specialized dishes unique to the region's geography.
โข Modern Adaptations: The introduction of new cuisines that blend tradition with contemporary tastes.
To ensure the knowledge extended beyond the clubhouse walls, copies of the Traditional Isneg Recipe Guidebook were distributed to all attendees to serve as a reference for their respective communities.
Heat in the Kitchen: High Stakes and Heritage
Following the lectures, the atmosphere shifted from the classroom to the kitchen. Seven competing teams faced off in a high-stakes Cookfest, tasked with bringing the morningโs theories to life. BSHM students enrolled in the Cordillera Cuisine course were the participants.
While the focus remained on Isneg heritage, the competition also paid homage to the wider Cordillera region by featuring selected traditional dishes from neighboring provinces. The teams were evaluated on creativity, authenticity, and technical skill, particularly in their use of traditional cooking methods.
Adding to the excitement, it was announced that exciting cash prizes would be awarded to the top-performing teams. These rewards are generously provided by the Provincial Government of Apayao (PGO) through the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO), highlighting the province's commitment to investing in youth-led cultural preservation.
The panel of judges included:
โข Representatives from the Provincial Government of Apayao
โข Ms. Joan Angagan, BSHM Program Chair
โข Mr. Leandro B. Alla, BSHM Faculty
The event concluded with a formal post-training evaluation facilitated by Mr. Kristian Paul Deo-ay, ASC Extension Staff. Participants shared feedback on the relevance of the IEC and offered suggestions for future culinary and cultural extension activities.
Early data suggests a high level of satisfaction, with many participants calling for more frequent workshops to bridge the gap between indigenous elders and the tech-savvy youth of Conner.

Behind every successful person stands an incredible teacherโan unsung hero believing in their potential before they can see it themselves. Teachers are more than educators; they are mentors who nurture each childโs inner power, serving as second parents, guiding them toward their dreams.
Like the sun nourishes plants, teachers infuse their students with knowledge and confidence, encouraging curiosity and resilience. They create safe havens where students can explore their thoughts and grow both academically and personally.
As we celebrate our remarkable teachers today, we reflect on their profound impact. They shape not just minds but character, leaving lasting legacies that resonate through generations. To all the teachers who inspire, support, and challenge us, we express our deepest gratitude. You are the guiding lights in our journeys, today, tomorrow, and always. Thank you for believing in us and helping us bloom like a flower in the garden of success. MABUHAY KAYO! AMING MGA G**O.
