ASAT faculty gets ready for new school year in two-day intensive INSET

โ€‹APARRI, CAGAYAN โ€” The teaching faculty of the Aparri School of Arts and Trades (ASAT) underwent a comprehensive two-day In-Service Training (INSET) from May 28 to 29, 2026, aimed at sharpening instructional skills, strengthening legal literacy, and laying down preparations for the upcoming school year opening.

Day 1: Enhancing Pedagogy and Legal Literacy

โ€‹The training opened with a strong focus on modern instructional design and policy awareness. Mark Jason Dayao kicked off the first day by introducing the faculty the new ILAW format lesson plan where he emphasized on importance of clustering and unpacking of competencies to create a developmentally sequenced lesson. He also underscored the importance of assessment in improving the teaching-learning process.

This was followed by a lecture from Sol Calata, who discussed implementing flexible learning programs to address diverse learning needs in the classroom.

โ€‹To cultivate data-driven teaching practices, Ronie Malazzab and Jay Andres teamed up to guide educators through evidence-based action research and workplan creation.

Wrapping up the afternoon of Day 1, Chalie Molina led a vital session on navigating Philippine legal frameworks on child rights, anti-bullying, and juvenile justice, reinforcing the school's commitment to child protection.

Day 2: Student Protection, Teacher Rights, and School Readiness

โ€‹The second day shifted focus toward the safety of both students and educators, as well as concrete operational planning.

Cielo V. Addatu opened the morning sessions by breaking down the different kinds of child abuse to help teachers better identify and report potential cases.

Recognizing the professional vulnerabilities educators face, Lorena Calantas and Catherine Membrot followed with a protective lecture detailing how to safeguard teachers from administrative and criminal prosecution.

โ€‹The morning concluded on an inspiring note with a seminar on "Leading with a Heart and Mind: A Values-Driven Approach."

In the afternoon, the focus turned toward community mobilization and campus readiness through the Department of Education's flagship programs, Oplan Balik Eskwela and Brigada Eskwela. Following the operational sessions, ASAT Principal Edward D. Garcia took the stage to brief the faculty on the upcoming activities for the school year's opening block.

โ€‹The successful two-day seminar concluded with a closing ceremony featuring the awarding of prizes and certificates to recognize the teachers' active participation and commitment to professional growth.
