GS Faculty Members and Student Council Officers implement POT4Life
CSU Aparri Graduate School conducted the extension program titled Policy Advocacy and Governance for Community Development which has a Project Title of SAFENET “ Sustaining Awareness on Fisheries Essential Needs for Enhanced Safety and Risk Management Among Fisherfolks” on December 5, 2024 at Brgy. Paddaya Gymnasium, Paddaya, Aparri, Cagayan.
This program aims to enhance the Occupational Health and Safety awareness and practices of fisherfolks in Brgy. Paddaya. by promoting sustainable fisheries and community development through capacity buillding and collaborative initiatives.
Moreover, SAFENET was inspired by the research study conducted by Professor Ma. Angelita S. Rabanal, PhD et. al, who was one of the Resource Speakers. She also presented the key findings, recommendations and way forward of her research pointing out the future plans and activities and the anchored programs to be implemented by next year.
On the other hand, Hon. Norman Ignacio, SB Secretary of the Local Government Unit of Aparri discussed on how to craft Localized Ordinances and Resolutions for the Association of the Fisherfolks and Brgy. Council of Paddaya for possible adoption to cater the needs of the fisherfolks.
Futhermore, this extension program is primed by the Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Mark John M. Tamanu and Faculty Members through the initiative of the GS Extension Coordinator Dr. Shailanie V. Rivera and Project Leader, Prof. Marie Ann Gladys G. Delos Angeles in cooperation with Brgy. Paddaya Council headed by Punong Brgy. Hon Angelito A. Mape.
Gradute School Faculty Members and Student Council Officers moderated and facilitated and 40 fisherfolks were trained on the said program.
