Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. was a Filipino senator and journalist who led the political opposition against the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos. Imprisoned for nearly eight years after martial law was declared, he was assassinated on August 21, 1983, upon returning from exile. His death sparked outrage that led to the 1986 People Power Revolution.

On this Ninoy Aquino Day, we reflect on his legacy of courage, sacrifice, and unyielding faith in the Filipino spirit. He shows that true leadership isn't about standing alone at the top, it’s about empowering every citizen to stand up for justice.
