The AVS SPJ is set to hold the second batch of its Qualifying Examination and Interview on April 27, 2026, Monday, 8 a.m.

The AVS SPJ Guild congratulates former publication seniors, Joewen Ray Ducado and Mary Colleen Faith Salcedo, on their inclusion in the roster of awardees of the 2026 IWAG Award by the Philippine Information Agency-Region VI.

Ducado and Salcedo are currently serving as editors-in-chief of USA Publications, the official student press corps of the University of San Agustin.

They served as lead volunteers of the initial run of the Grassroots Journalism Project in 2018.

This is Ducadoโ€™s second IWAG award as he received similar recognition when he was in high school.

Antique Vocational Schoolโ€™s journalism program produced 4 IWAG awardees this year, including Zeder Gonzales and Bea Bianca Tatoy from the AVS SPJ Class of 2024.

From a lineage of editors, Bea rose through the ranks of The AVS Courier on her own terms. Amidst moments of change and uncertainty, she became a steady heartbeat for the publication, proving that true leadership is not inheritedโ€”it is earned. As she exits the publication, we honor not only the championship she brought, but the impact of her initiatives that will continue to shape the publication in the years to come.
