LOOK: UA-CMS holds the 2nd bUgsAy Marinero Research Colloquium 2024

The University of Antique College of Maritime Studies (UA CMS) holds the 2nd bUgsAy Marinero Research Colloquium 2024 with the theme, "Building a Culture of Research Through bUgsAy in the New Normal, and selects the Best Research and Best Presenters on June 7, 2024.

The Best in Research goes to the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering 3-Bravo with the research title, "Navigating Financial Literacy: Understanding Saving Habits Among Maritime Cadets." The study aimed to investigate the factors that influence the saving habits of maritime cadets at the University of Antique. The group is composed of the members: Mdpn. Joshua Mendoza, Mdpn. Dem Andrew P. Malimbag, Mdpn. Rica T. Alvarez, Mpdn. Reymar L. Pillado, Mdpn. Noel S. Semilla, Mdpn. Andrew Carlo E. Toquillo, and Mdpn. Reagan Jay P. Grecia.

The said activity was attended by the 3rd year maritime cadets and selected maritime faculty of the College of Maritime Studies.
“This is the right avenue for the maritime cadets to refine their work, share insights with fellow researchers, reveal the findings of their study, and showcase their knowledge in maritime education, “2/M Cenen Archie V. Huera, Faculty of CMS, remarked.

Likewise, 3/E Rowen M. Samillano, Dean of CMS, also expressed appreciation to the CMS department for building a research culture in the college.

"The heart of education is research, which is the strongest link between knowledge and community. Through research, knowledge is transferred to the maritime community, which eventually benefits the maritime cadets. So, research provides an opportunity to grow and even become a better person, "3/E Samillano added.

Furthermore, three (3) Midshipmen were judged as the Best Research Presenters, namely Mdpn. Edrian Migeul C. Cabelara, Mdpn. Rhon F. Balono and Mpdn. Novie Cris B. Tanoja.

"bUgsAy," a Binisaya term for “Row or Propel the Boat," aligns with the title of the research colloquium of the College of Maritime Studies.

ANOTHER MILESTONE!

I am so happy right now knowing that the World Maritime University - the leading maritime university in the world through its Digital Repository, the Maritime Commons, cited one of my hard-earned publications! This is not only my pride but by the University of Antique and the maritime industry in the Philippines as a whole.

This is a testament that my hard work finally paid off in the end. Some may not value my hard work but others would silently appreciate its value.

Word of Advice - they may slow you down but never stop you from achieving your ultimate.

Keep working in silence and let your output be the VOICE!
