National Service Training Program
Literacy Enrichment Program – Closing Ceremony
Knights of Columbus Elementary School, Antipolo City

The University of Rizal System, through the National Service Training Program (NSTP), has successfully completed its Literacy Enrichment Program at Nazarene Elementary School in Antipolo City. This meaningful activity was made possible with the support and guidance of NSTP Coordinator Engr. John Dennis Espiritu, LTS Facilitator Prof. Irene Feliciano, and the Program Head of the College of Education, Prof. Marky Aguilar.

We sincerely thank our LTS student-volunteers for their time, effort, and dedication in sharing their knowledge and helping the young learners grow in confidence and skills.

We are also deeply grateful to Mrs. Ceres Joy C. Cabrera, Principal of Knights of Columbus Elementary School, for the warm welcome and continued support given to our students throughout the program.

This closing ceremony may signal the end of our time at the school, but we hope it marks the start of something more—stronger learning foundations for the children and a lifelong commitment to service for our student-volunteers.

The University of Rizal System, through the National Service Training Program (NSTP), successfully concluded its Literacy Enrichment Program at Nazarene Elementary School in Antipolo City. This meaningful initiative was made possible under the guidance of NSTP Coordinator Engr. John Dennis Espiritu, Literacy Training Service (LTS) Facilitator Prof. Irene Feliciano, and the Program Head of the College of Education, Prof. Marky Aguilar.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the LTS students for their dedication, enthusiasm, and tireless efforts in making a positive impact on the learners of Nazarene Elementary School.

A special thank you to Mr. Geoffrey T. Unida, the Principal of Nazarene Elementary School, for warmly welcoming and supporting our LTS students throughout the program.

This closing ceremony marks not just the end of a program but the beginning of a lasting impact on young learners and a deeper commitment to community service by our student-volunteers.

NSTP-CWTS Clean-Up Drive

Students from the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at University of Rizal System conducted a clean-up drive inside the campus as part of their NSTP-CWTS (Civic Welfare Training Service) program.

This initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and community responsibility. The students actively participated by sweeping, raking leaves, and collecting garbage to maintain a clean and green campus. Their efforts reflect their commitment to public service and teamwork, essential values in both their academic and professional journeys.

Through this activity, the students not only contributed to a healthier environment but also strengthened their sense of volunteerism and civic duty.

NSTP-CWTS Campus Farming Initiative

Under the dedicated guidance of Professor Raquel Apostol Angeles, NSTP-CWTS students embarked on an inspiring campus farming project designed to impart essential agricultural skills, including planting, crop management, and harvesting techniques. Through immersive, hands-on experiences, students cultivated a deeper understanding of sustainable farming practices while building critical values such as teamwork, accountability, and environmental stewardship.

This initiative goes beyond classroom learning by fostering a sense of responsibility towards food production and sustainability. It empowers students to appreciate the value of hard work and agricultural innovation, equipping them with the skills and mindset to make meaningful contributions to community-driven food security solutions.

Green Elegance: Pandan Plants for an Inspiring School Environment

The "Green Elegance" initiative is a transformative project under the NSTP-CWTS program that aims to enhance the learning environment at the University of Rizal System, Antipolo Campus. By incorporating pandan plants inside the campus buildings, this initiative promotes a calming, refreshing, and eco-friendly atmosphere conducive to learning and productivity.

Objectives:
✅ Enhance the indoor environment by integrating greenery into the school’s spaces.
✅ Promote health and well-being by improving air quality and reducing stress among students and faculty.
✅ Encourage environmental consciousness by engaging students in sustainable practices.
✅ Foster a productive and aesthetically pleasing campus that inspires creativity and focus.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Seminar: Level Up Your Self-Love—Be Informed, Know Your Status
On November 15, the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Office, in collaboration with the Medical Unit of the University of Rizal System (URS), conducted an enlightening seminar titled “HIV/AIDS Awareness Seminar - Level Up Your Self-Love: Be Informed, Know Your Status.” The event was attended by all NSTP students from URS and aimed to promote awareness and education about HIV/AIDS.

The seminar had two distinguished speakers:
• Dr. John Eros Rufino R. de Vera,
• Dr. Jeron Laurino Osiana

Their presentations emphasized the importance of understanding HIV/AIDS and encouraging individuals to know their status through proper testing and medical consultation.

University of Rizal System - NSTP-LTS Literacy Training Service

The University of Rizal System, through the NSTP-LTS (Literacy Training Service), is committed to fostering literacy and empowering communities. This year, Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education students major in English took their literacy skills to San Roque National High School, where they conducted a hands-on Literacy Training Service on November 6, 2024.

Guided by Professor Irene Feliciano, the program focused on the Reading Assistance Project (RAP), a dedicated initiative designed to enhance students' reading abilities. Reading is more than a basic skill; it’s a foundational tool that unlocks academic achievement, expands vocabulary, strengthens comprehension, and sharpens communication skills. By engaging in the RAP, these future educators contributed directly to students' lifelong success, reinforcing reading as an essential skill that supports both personal and academic growth.

Through initiatives like these, the University of Rizal System exemplifies its commitment to literacy and learning, equipping young minds with the tools they need to excel both in the classroom and beyond.

BS Computer Engineering (CPE) - Section 1A Conducts Clean-Up Drive at University of Rizal System, Antipolo Campus

On a bright day, first-year Computer Engineering students, Section 1A, from the University of Rizal System Antipolo Campus gathered for an activity that was both meaningful and inspiring: a clean-up drive within the campus grounds. This is to show the students care enough to make their environment clean and green and is responsible as well for the community.

Equipped with brooms, dustpans, and garbage bags, students started to clean different parts of the campus by clearing litter, sweeping walkways, and generally making the environments more livable for everyone. This project not only beautified the campus but also promoted teamwork and friendship among the students.

The event emphasizes the importance of environmental stewardship within the university campus community, with students taking the first lead on setting a positive trend. Their efforts do contribute toward making the campus premises cleaner and more inviting for students, faculty members, and other visitors alike. It is quite an opportunity for reminding each member of the community of their responsibility in preserving the cleanliness and beauty of the place shared among all.

Future engineers, the students in CPE 1A demonstrated leadership, discipline, and dedication in each activity. Dedicated to sustainability and teamwork, these actions epitomize the essence that the University of Rizal System exemplifies by promoting active involvement and social responsibility.
