Back in the late ’90s, while I was at the College of Music, someone approached me with a unique request—to mentor a young child star in playing the drums. I remember asking where it would take place, and realizing it was too far from where I lived, I hesitated, thinking I might not be able to commit. Life moved on, and that moment quietly faded into memory.

Decades later, our paths crossed again—and that young star had become Dingdong Dantes, now a remarkable actor and accomplished director. When I shared the story with him, it brought back his old interest in drumming, a passion once left behind.

And now, as time comes full circle, there’s a renewed hope—that perhaps I can finally guide him, not just in rhythm, but in rediscovering a dream that once waited patiently in the background.

Jacob Gunong, a Drum Ninja student, stood at the kit and began with a simple hand-and-foot rudiment. Slowly, he locked his limbs into balance—hands relaxed, feet steady. Once the pattern settled, he orchestrated it across the kit, moving from snare to toms to cymbals without breaking time. The exercise became music, and the kit became his training ground.

The knowledge of drumming was given to me as a gift—and gifts are meant to be shared. By crossing borders, not with planes but with purpose, I’ve been able to reach people wherever rhythm lives. Technology made the impossible possible. Since the pandemic, Drum Ninja has grown into an online drum school delivering tailor-fit classes to students around the globe, one beat at a time. Different time zones, same pulse.
Meet Tyler Lagleva, an aspiring drummer grooving in California, USA—proof that rhythm has no borders, only connections. 🥁🌍

Dear Drum Ninja Students and Parents,

We would like to remind everyone of our school policy regarding NCNS (No Call, No Show).

In the past, the school has extended consideration by allowing students to request a class reschedule, provided that we are informed at least one (1) day in advance in case of absence. We also send class reminders a day before each scheduled session. However, there have been instances where no prior notice was given.

To ensure fairness and smooth scheduling for both students and instructors, the school will begin forfeiting classes tagged as NCNS (No Call, No Show).

This policy will take effect February 2026.

We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation moving forward. Please help us by informing the school ahead of time should you need to reschedule.

Thank you for your continued support.
