| Pag-aakyat ni Jesus sa Langit (Mateo 28,15-21)

May isang kuwento.

| World Communications Sunday

"...Let us remember: every message we send, every story we share, every image we post becomes part of the Church’s witness. We are called not to amplify noise, but to amplify Christ: His truth, His mercy, His nearness to every human heart.

As Jesus ascends to the Father, He entrusts His mission to us. He believes in us. He sends us. And He promises: “I am with you always.”

May our communication, online and offline, become a bridge of encounter, a channel of peace, and a pathway that leads others to God.

Through the intercession of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, may our voices, our platforms, and our lives proclaim only one message:

Christ is with us, Christ is for us, and Christ sends us forth."

| A Pastoral Message on Our National Situation

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

In these troubling times for our beloved Philippines, I feel deeply the pulse of our people: their anger, their exhaustion, their disappointment. Many Filipinos today are not only anxious; they are furious. They see leaders who should have been role models of integrity, yet they themselves disregard the law. They witness officials entrusted with public service not only engaging in corruption, waste, and self‑interest, but also reducing the dignity of public office and abandoning the standards of right conduct expected of those who lead. The righteous anger of our people is not born of hatred, but of betrayal. A betrayal of trust, of duty, and of the common good.

Likewise, we cannot ignore the painful realities before us. The flood control fiasco, with billions lost, remains unresolved. Those responsible continue to live comfortably, untouched by accountability, while the poor suffer the consequences. The families of the missing sabungeros still wait for truth and justice. The oil crisis burdens workers and families who already live day to day. Our power supply remains unstable. Red alerts, rotating brownouts, and a fragile national grid that exposes how unprepared we are for the needs of our people. These are not mere headlines; they are wounds in our national soul.

And yet, amid all this, political noise dominates the public square. Arguments, accusations, and divisions drown out the more urgent cries of our people: the cry for justice, for truth, for accountability, for compassion. The fury of the Filipino people is not without reason. They see leaders who should have been examples of integrity, yet they themselves disregard the law and escape responsibility. But let us remember this unchanging truth: God is the ultimate Judge of all things, and no one escapes His justice. Every person, leader or citizen, will one day stand before Him and give an account of their life, their choices, and the responsibilities entrusted to them. My dear people, let us not lose sight of what truly matters. Let us not allow ourselves to be distracted from the deeper issues that demand our moral attention and collective action.

As your Bishop, I call on all of us, leaders and citizens alike, to return to the path of righteousness. Let us choose what is just. Let us defend what is true. Let us act with courage. Let us rebuild our nation not on anger alone, but on conversion, responsibility, and renewed commitment to the common good.

A Prayer for National Renewal

Lord God of justice and mercy,
Look with compassion upon our beloved Philippines.
Hear the cries of Your people who suffer from corruption, injustice, and neglect.
Strengthen those burdened by rising prices, unstable power, and daily uncertainty.

Comfort the families of the missing, the poor who struggle, and the workers who labor without rest.

Expose what is hidden.
Correct what is wrong.
Humble the proud.
Lift up the oppressed.

And move the hearts of our leaders to act with integrity, honesty, and love for the people they serve.

Amid anger, grant us wisdom.
Amid frustration, grant us courage.
Amid darkness, grant us light.

Teach us to work together for truth, justice, and peace.

Renew our nation, O Lord.
Renew our leaders.
Renew our people.

And renew our hope.

We entrust the Philippines to the maternal care of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage. May she guide us toward healing, unity, and lasting transformation. Amen.
