Teaching is more than just a job; it is a calling that shapes us, the students, into better versions of ourselves for the future. It requires dedication, hard work, and unwavering determination. This perfectly describes Ms. Rencell Cruz. She graduated in 2018 and began her teaching career in 2020 at St. Bridget Academy of Antipolo (SBAA), where she teaches Mathematics and Science.
Before she became a teacher, Ms. Cruz faced countless hurdles. At 16, after graduating high school, she became a working student. She worked in a factory for almost six years until she decided to enroll in college. "My college journey was like a traffic light, with moments of stopping and going," she said. There were times when she had to pause her studies due to financial challenges, but she would re-enroll whenever she could save enough money. Ms. Cruz credits her relatives and her partner for helping her complete her college degree. She remains forever grateful to them and everyone who supported her in pursuing her dream.
Ms. Cruz is always motivated to continue teaching, especially when she sees her child and students who trust her with their learning. "They are the ones who keep me going, even when I sometimes think about quitting," she shared. For her, if you love what you do, you will always find a reason not to give up.
"Just keep doing what you love, even if some people don't believe in you. As long as there's at least one person who inspires you, I believe there's no reason to stop chasing your dreams," Ms. Cruz said, delivering an inspiring message to the next generation of students at SBAA.
We, the students of SBAA, have selected Ms. Rencell Cruz as the Teacher of the Year because we see her genuine passion for teaching. She truly cares about her students' futures and physical and mental well-being. Ms. Cruz has the ability to teach, inspire, and support us in ways that make her deserving of the title "The Best Teacher of the Year."
