BEHIND EVERY STORY IS A LIFE THAT MATTERS

This yearโ€™s World Day of Social Communications reminds us of something we keep forgetting in the middle of digital noise: nothing we see or share online is without a human behind it. Pope Leo XIVโ€™s call to preserve human voices and faces feel most urgent now, when AI and technology can produce information instantly, but not necessarily truthfully, and not always humanly.

Journalism has always been about witnessing, not just reporting, and witnessing is never easy. Journalists go out, ask uncomfortable questions, face risks, and stand in places where truth is not always welcomed. That is something no system, no tool, and no AI can replace, because journalism is a responsibility carried by people who are willing to be present.

AI can generate words, but it cannot stand in front of a story. It cannot feel the weight of silence after an interview. It cannot choose to persist in pursuit of truth. And it cannot live for the lives behind the news. That is where we remain different.

For the OLPSian Times and for campus journalism, this is a reminder that our work in communications is not small just because our community is. Even in school, in captions, articles, and pubmats that we think are simple, we are shaping how people and events are seen, remembered, and understood, as we are in the service of others.

Our responsibility is not complicated, but it is heavy: to stay human in the way we write, to stay honest in the way we report, and to never forget that behind every story is a life that matters.

The concert followed with song segments from the Antipolo Diocesan Grand Choir and Patronato Diocesano Rondalla de Nuestra Maria y Buenviaje, filling many hearts with awe and reverence. The concert ended with the glorious collaboration of the three groups.

Viva, Kayumangging Reyna! Happy Pilgrimage Season and Maytime Festival, Antipolo!

While music festivals are often seen as an escape from reality, UP Fair: Elements 2026 did the exact opposite. The UP Diliman Sunken Garden transformed into a massive stage where OPMโ€™s biggest names and the countryโ€™s most marginalized voices shared one microphone.

Society runs on human love and their efforts to provide and maintain this shared planet. โค๏ธ๐Ÿค

Today, May 1st, as we celebrate Labor Day, we also remember the feast day of St. Joseph the Worker. On this day, we don't only acknowledge the labor of the Filipino people, but we honor the sacrifices they make in their daily contributions.

As one nation, Labor Day reminds us to recognize the hard workers of our country and to rightfully provide them the proper wages and support they need. As one OLPSian-Paulinian community, we strive to give the same efforts as modeled by St. Joseph the Worker.
