Ngayong Huwebes, Abril 9, 2026, ipinagdiriwang ang ika-84 na anibersaryo ng Araw ng Kagitingan o Araw ng Bataan, kung saan ginugunita ang mga bayaning dumipensa at nagsakripisyo para sa Bataan. ✊🏻🗡️

Ang paggunita ay itinatag noong 1961 nang ideklara ni Pangulong Carlos P. Garcia ang Abril 9 bilang “Araw ng Bataan.” Hinikayat ang mga Pilipino na magbigay-pugay sa pamamagitan ng katahimikan at mga seremonya bilang parangal sa mga tagapagtanggol ng Bataan at kanilang mga pamilya.

Sa paglipas ng panahon, nagbago at pinalawak ang paggunita. Saglit itong isinama sa Philippine Veterans Week at ginanap tuwing Mayo 6, bago ibinalik sa orihinal nitong petsa at pinagtibay ang kasalukuyang pangalan bilang Araw ng Kagitingan.

Ngayon, ang Araw ng Kagitingan ay ginugunita bilang pag-alala sa pagdurusa noong digmaan, at pagpupugay rin sa kabayanihan, katatagan, at pambansang pagkakakilanlan ng mga Pilipino. Taon-taon sa buong bansa ay may mga seremonya na ginaganap upang parangalan ang mga nakipaglaban at nagbuwis ng buhay. 🇵🇭🔥
