John Gerald Pedere, a Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics (BSEd-Mathematics), expressed his hope in completing the education program with a specialization in Mathematics.
To help ensure that the specialization is offered, Pedere encouraged his blockmates in the English specialization, which currently has the highest number of enrollees, to shift to Mathematics. Under the department's policy, a major must have at least 10 enrolled students for it to be opened.

The School of Education (SEd) student organizations took part in the Organization Festival on June 2, welcoming and engaging first-year Talaturus as they began their university journey.
This academic year, the event carried the theme โSPELLBOUND: Freshman Orientation and Student Activities Festival 2026,โ inspired by the fantasy novel Harry Potter.
In line with the theme, the College Student Council of SEd (CSC-SEd) initiated a collaboration among the student groups of the department, assigning each group to one of the four Hogwarts houses.
Participating groups included CSC-SEd, The Kaleidoscope (KLDS), The Reflection (Reple), and The Scienzophiliacs (Scienzo), which represented Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, respectively.
Prior to the organization fair, freshmen gathered at the University Chapel alongside students from the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) for an invocation. The program opened with welcome remarks of Ms. Rowena Sibal, followed by an inspirational message from Rev. Fr. Omar Niรฑo V. Defensor, University Chaplain.
Afterward, the freshmen orientation took place at the University Theater. Covering university policies, academic regulations, grading systems, learning platforms, scholarship opportunities, student leadership, and other essential university information.
Following the orientation, SEd organizations welcomed freshmen through their interactive booths, allowing students to explore different organizations and discover opportunities to develop their interests and skills beyond the classroom.
To conclude the activity, CSC-SEd guided the freshmen on a campus tour, highlighting the facilities, laboratories, and learning spaces within the SEd department. Freshmen were also introduced to the SEdโs academic programs, majors, and student organizations, providing them with a broader understanding of the opportunities available throughout their academic journey.
Such an initiative, headed by the Eduk Council in collaboration with SEd student groups, aimed to assist first-year students in the department as they transitioned into university life.

In Memorandum Circular No. 14, s. 2026, it is officially announced that Dr. Alma M. Natividad will take a concurrent role as the Dean of both the School of Education (SEd) and the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) for the Academic Year 2026-2027.
During an interview, Dr. Natividad clarified that the new administrative arrangement is not a departmental merger, explicitly differentiating the current arrangement from the 2016 merger that previously formed the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education (CASEd).
When asked about her thoughts on her new role, she expressed a positive and enthusiastic outlook on the shared leadership structure.
โWe just extend our love to SAS. I welcome all the changes, I take it as a challenge,โ the dean stated.
As part of this logistical move, Dr. Natividad will be moving her office to the SAS faculty area. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether she will maintain one office or two.
The concurrent deanship is formally set to run for the coming 2026-2027 academic year, but at the present time, no formal indication has been given of the future of this dual role in subsequent years.
Her term as dean of both departments is set to begin on June 1, 2026.
