πŸ“’ URGENT: STUDENT SAFETY CONCERN AT OUR SCHOOL

Our hearts go out to the families affected by the tragic school shooting in Tacloban City on June 22 2026. This incident reminds us that safety must never be taken for granted β€” especially inside schools.

Right now, our school has NO assigned security guard or personnel present during daytime school hours, exactly when all our students, teachers, and staff are inside the campus. This leaves entry points and the whole campus unmonitored and vulnerable.

We note and fully support the official statement from the Office of Cong. Carmelo β€œPogi” Lazatin Jr., Pampanga‑1st District Representative, which explicitly:
βœ… Urges school administrators to exercise utmost vigilance and secure student safety;
βœ… Calls on LGUs to use part of the Special Education Fund specifically for public‑school security;
βœ… Reminds us to strengthen coordination with police and conduct regular safety drills.

Our current situation does not meet these clear safety standards. We are respectfully asking the School Administration, Barangay Officials, and Local Government Unit to:
πŸ”Ή Provide immediate temporary security/monitoring while classes are ongoing;
πŸ”Ή Take steps to secure permanent security coverage;
πŸ”Ή Review entry rules and ensure proper safety drills are held regularly.

Our children’s safety is our shared responsibility. We ask our community β€” parents, teachers, residents β€” to share this post and help us raise this concern until action is taken. 🀝

STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF PAMPANGA 1ST DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE CARMELO G. LAZATIN, JR. ON THE SCHOOL SHOOTING IN TACLOBAN

On behalf of First District of Pampanga, we extend our sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the shooting incident at the San Jose National High School in Tacloban City on June 22, 2026.

We are deeply saddened by this incident, and we are praying for the speedy recovery of all the injured.

We also support the order of President Ferdinand β€œBongbong” Marcos, Jr. for an immediate investigation of this incident.

Likewise, we call the attention of school administrators and officials in the First District of Pampanga to exercise utmost vigilance in securing the safety of our students in the wake of multiple incidents of school violence in the past few days, and to activate mechanisms to address issues of school bullying.

We call on the Local Government Units to use a portion of the Special Education Fund for the security of all public schools.

We also call on Local Disaster Management Offices, the Philippine National Police, and the Department of Education to conduct simulation exercises and drills to prepare students on how to react in such incidents, similar to the drills we conducted from 2022 to 2025 during our time as City Mayor, when we ordered the Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Angeles City Police Office to prepare a series of drills in all elementary, high school, colleges and universities on hostage crisis, active mass shootings alongside earthquake and fire drills.

Lastly, we call on the members of our community, especially parents and guardians, to protect, monitor, and safeguard our children from negative influences.

Now, more than ever, our government and community must stand and unite together to protect our children.

Raising awareness about disaster: Iba na ang laging handa!

This was once again proven by the learners od Apung Guidang Nepomuceno Elementary School by conducting an unannounced earthquake drill, in liue of the recent earthquake last Monday in Mindanao,where in the unexpected event happened in an early morning while schools are having their flag ceremony.

The learners took the drill in a very positive way and they have made it very well, thanks to the guidance of the class advisers, under the supervision of our school principal Sir Ariel Basco Tayag and our Master Teacher, Ma'am Gozum.

Basta batang AGNES, laging handa!
