Although the Kapampangans have already learned to overcome this peculiarity, let us admit it; there are unguarded moments when we just canโt elp it! and it just appens!
In 1732, the Kapampangan dictionary written by Diego Bergaรฑo, a Spanish missionary, did not have H and F letters along with the ancient Kapampangan orthography.

"dugong a*o" la kanu?
Ali yu yan sasabyan kareng kapampangan; pota mabalungus kayu!
Jokes aside, Kapampangans being tagged as "dugong a*o" or treacherous is only a product of a misleading interpretation of history. Back in March 1901 when Americans captured General Emilio Aguinaldo in Palanan, Isabela, a group of 78 Macabebe Scouts helped the foreigners. Other Filipinos took it negatively and compared all Kapampangans to dogs with blind loyalty. However, many historians argue that it was "unfair and untrue", because the Macabebes were already against him from the beginning and never acknowledged him as their president, so how could they be guilty of treachery?

Kapampangans excelled in literary, such as when they wrote the longest literary work in the Philippines (โDon Gonzalo de Cordobaโ by Anselmo Fajardo), the first zarzuela in any Philippine language (โIng Managpeโ by Mariano Proceso Pabalan Byron), and the first English novel written by a Filipino (โA Child of Sorrowโ by Zoilo Galang). In fact, the literary during the Golden Age of Kapampangan Literature in Bacolor was comparable to Elizabethan England at the time of Shakespeare, as per anthologist Edna Zapanta Manlapaz. In the first half of the 20th century, the entirety of Pampanga was filled with zarzuela, kuriru, crissotan, and an abundance of literature.

A chieftain from Macabebe was the first native to die while defending his land. Also, the Kapampangan Revolt of 1660 was the first regional rebellion to nearly succeed in becoming a national revolution. The Kapampangans also aided numerous people, such as Rizal in publishing his novels (Valentin Ventura and Jose Alejandrino), Bonifacio in founding the Katipunan (Aurelio Tolentino), and Aguinaldo in launching the Revolution (Maximino Hizon, Francisco Makabulos, etc.). In addition, the founders (or co-founders) of certain groups such as the Partido Sosyalista ng Pilipinas, the Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas, the Hukbalahap, the New Peopleโs Army, the Kabataang Makabayan, the Kilusang Mayo Uno, and many other left-wing organizations, were all Kapampangans. It is important to note that only Kilusang Mayo Uno is considered legal while the rest of the groups are considered illegal and underground by the government.

Neighboring provinces also have Kapampangan people who have the bloodline of Kapampangan natives and are fluent in the language. This may be because the โProvince of Pampangaโ and the โKapampangan Regionโ are two different terms. Pampanga, as a province, is its political entity, while the Kapampangan region is an ethnolinguistic identity. This means that living inside the boundaries of Pampanga does not make you a Kapampangan. Likewise, living outside does not make it certain that you are not a Kapampangan.
Do you have Kapampangan relatives or friends who were born and raised in a different province? Share this trivia with them or mention them below!

The colonizers depended on Kapampangans for food, timber, manpower for galleon shipyards, artists and artisans for churches, and soldiers for the army. In return, they gave Kapampangans access to their exclusive schools and the royal army. Moreover, the formation of the Philippine Scouts was inspired by the Kapampanganโs military skills.

๐๐ฆ๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ฏ๐จ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฆรฑ๐ฐ... atin la palang sasalikut a ali tamu balu!
This post contains an in-depth study of the real meaning behind the renowned Kapampangan song, Atin Kรป Pung Singsing. It is considered very popular that even non-Kapampangan, famous 70s artists/celebrities such as Nora Aunor and Freddie Aguilar covered this song.
What we have been taught from our childhood about this song is just the surface of it all, that this song is merely about a person who lost their ring of inheritance and will do anything to get it back. But.. it is not just that.
O, nanu? Mipaisip ka? Kitnang me ing sarili mu?
Find out what it truly means in this post!

๐๐ฆ๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ฏ๐จ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฆรฑ๐ฐ... dakal la panwalan Dโyos inyang minunang panaun!
Like any other culture in the world, Kapampangans have myths and stories regarding the formation of the world. The Kapampangan Mythology is heavily influenced by Hinduism and Buddhism of India and the datus and rajahs who came from the Pampanga region. One tale is the Formation of the World, which was documented by Alfredo Nicdao back in 1917. Furthermore, this myth is of a very violent nature, and the creation was done in an extremely long period of time.
Due to Pampanga once occupying a vast stretch of land that extended from Tondo to the rest of Central Luzon, it is perhaps a rea*on why Kapampangan and Tagalog Mythology mirror one another so much. So, you may find these gods and goddesses familiar.
