The five-day workshop aims to strengthen participants’ capacity to 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭, 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝
𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐬—from identifying and prioritizing research problems
to selecting appropriate study designs and sampling methods, developing data collection and analysis
plans, addressing ethical considerations, and planning for research implementation.

Through a combination of lectures, guided exercises, and hands-on protocol development, participants
will work toward integrating the essential components of a complete research protocol and refining
their proposed studies for implementation.

The Department of Health – Center for Health Development Caraga, in collaboration with the MaHFA Project, successfully concluded the five-day Training Workshop on Systematic Review and Data Analysis for Health Research: A Capacity-Building Program on Evidence-Based Systematic Review and Data Analysis for Health Research.

The workshop brought together health professionals, researchers, and practitioners for an intensive learning experience aimed at strengthening competencies in evidence-based research. Through expert-led lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on sessions, participants enhanced their knowledge and practical skills in systematic review methodologies, literature searching, study screening, critical appraisal, data extraction, and data analysis using a range of research tools and software.

By looking beyond the search bar, participants discovered that meaningful research goes far beyond finding information—it requires critically appraising evidence, synthesizing knowledge, and translating research into informed decisions that improve health outcomes and guide future policies and practices.

The CSU–MaHFA Project extend their sincere appreciation to all participants, resource speakers, facilitators, and the Department of Health – Center for Health Development Caraga whose dedication, collaboration, and commitment made this capacity-building initiative a resounding success.

The MaHFA Project Team recently conducted a collaborator visit to the University of Santo Tomas (UST), further strengthening its partnership with the Zooplankton, Ecology, Systematics, & Limnology (ZESL) Research Group of the UST Research Center for the Natural and Applied Sciences (RCNAS).

The visit provided an opportunity to tour the laboratories and research facilities of UST-RCNAS, discuss ongoing collaborative research initiatives, and exchange ideas on biodiversity conservation and ecological research.

The MaHFA Project extends its heartfelt gratitude to Ma'am Jhaydee Anne Pascual, Ma'am Shea Kathleen Guinto, and Dr. Rey Donne Papa, our collaborators from UST-RCNAS and the ZESL Research Group, for their warm hospitality, valuable insights, and unwavering support. We look forward to further strengthening this partnership as we continue working together to advance biodiversity research and contribute to the conservation of the Agusan Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary.

𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙖 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙂𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙉𝘼𝙎𝙏!

Caraga State University proudly participated in the 48th Annual Scientific Meeting of the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Philippines, one of the country's premier scientific gatherings, held at The Manila Hotel, Manila, on July 8–9, 2026. The University's participation reflects its continuing commitment to research excellence, innovation, and the development of future scientists.

Among the research posters presented by Caraga State University were five scientific papers derived from the undergraduate thesis studies of the MaHFA Project's Undergraduate Thesis Student Assistants (UTSAs). These presentations showcase the students' dedication to scientific inquiry and the valuable mentorship provided by the MaHFA Project research team.

We are proud to see our UTSAs' research featured alongside the work of researchers and scientists from across the country. Their accomplishments highlight the impact of undergraduate research in advancing health science and contributing to evidence-based solutions for national development.

Congratulations to our Undergraduate Thesis Student Assistants, mentors, and the entire MaHFA Project team for this remarkable achievement. May this milestone continue to inspire excellence in research and strengthen Caraga State University's contribution to the scientific community.

Throughout their internship, they immersed themselves in a wide range of biodiversity field and laboratory activities, gaining hands-on experience in QGIS mapping, drone operation for aerial surveys, flora assessment, soil analysis, herbarium preparation, insect collection and pinning, and faunal surveys. These experiences provided valuable exposure to biodiversity assessment, ecological field methods, and scientific research while highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in environmental science and conservation.

To our interns, your enthusiasm, dedication, adaptability, and willingness to learn made this internship a truly rewarding experience. We hope the knowledge and experiences you gained have deepened your appreciation for biodiversity, conservation, and the value of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing environmental challenges. Thank you for your hard work and positive energy throughout your time with the MaHFA Project. We are proud to have been part of your learning journey and wish you continued success in your academic pursuits and future careers. May this experience serve as a strong foundation for greater scientific discoveries and meaningful contributions to your chosen fields.

𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐃𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓’𝐒 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐀 𝐖𝐑𝐀𝐏!!!

The MaHFA UTSA Culmination Program has finally come to an end, and honestly… where do we even begin?

What started as a day filled with preparations, running around, fixing last-minute concerns, and making sure everything was in place slowly turned into one of the most memorable moments we shared together as a family. From signing the attendance sheets to taking the final group photo, every part of the event became a reminder of how far everyone has come.

The program was not only about presentations and academic achievements, although the oral and poster presentations truly showcased the hard work, passion, and dedication of every participant. It was also about the laughter heard during the raffle draws, the chaos and fun during the “Guess Who,” random questions, and color games, and the unexpected talents shown during the intermission numbers that made everyone cheer and smile.

But beyond all the fun and activities, one of the most unforgettable parts of the event was realizing that this chapter is slowly coming to a close for our graduating UTSA members. The heartfelt messages from Sir Jess, Ma’am Eve, and Sir Arn reminded everyone that graduation is not simply the end of a journey, but the beginning of another one filled with opportunities, challenges, and dreams waiting to be achieved.

One of the most emotional moments of the program was when the MaHFA UTSA members themselves rendered their message, sharing their gratitude, experiences, and cherished memories throughout their journey as UTSA members. The atmosphere became even more heartfelt when previous UTSA members also shared their messages — warmly welcoming the new generation of UTSA while reminding everyone that no matter how many years may pass, the bond and family built within MaHFA will always remain.

The room grew even quieter and more emotional as the tribute video was presented. Watching old photos, memories, candid moments, and milestones flash across the screen made everyone realize just how much had been shared together through the years. Some laughed, some became emotional, and some simply smiled while remembering the journey that brought everyone to that moment.

The awarding of certificates became more than just receiving pieces of paper. Each certificate represented sleepless nights, teamwork, sacrifices, growth, and countless memories shared together throughout the journey. Congratulations to all UTSA members, the hardworking organizing committee, and the winners of the oral and poster presentations for your dedication and achievements.

And finally, as everyone gathered together for the last group photo, smiles filled the room while hearts quietly realized that moments like these do not happen forever. Some chapters end, people move forward, and paths may eventually separate — but the memories, friendships, laughter, and experiences built within MaHFA will always remain.

To our graduating members, thank you for your hard work, your presence, your friendship, and for becoming part of this beautiful journey. No matter where life takes you next, always remember that MaHFA will always be proud of you.
