VMC ACFI 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 | Provincial Skills Competition 2024 Kicks Off at UAS
𝐔𝐀𝐒 𝐂𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 | 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 – The Maguindanao Provincial Skills Competition 2024, organized by the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education - Technical Education and Skills Development (MBHTE-TESD), officially opened today with the theme, "Empowering the Future: Advancing Skills for Tomorrow."
The competition featured three categories: Information Network Cabling (INC), Cooking, and Electrical Installation, with participants from various schools, including Upi Agricultural School, VMC Asian College Foundation, Foureych Technical Vocational and Learning Center, Farasan Institute of Technology,lnc.,Ibn Taimiya Foundation Academy,Inc.,Greater Impact for Tomorrow,Inc.,Regional Manpower Development Center and Ittihadun-Nisa' Foundation,Inc. Bangsamoro Women Skills Training and Assessment Center.
The event began with a motorcade from UAS through Nuro Poblacion and back to the UAS campus. The motorcade was joined by various groups, including the UAS ROTC Unit, technical delegates, chief experts, competitors, coaches, and PO Maguindanao representatives.
Engr. Sukarno B. Datukan, Ph.D., the Vocational School Administrator II of UAS, extended a warm welcome to the participants and expressed gratitude for UAS being chosen as the host institution.
Rafsan Janeeh M. Sinsuat, the PSC Chairman, delivered the rationale for the competition, emphasizing the importance of showcasing skills, enhancing talents, and promoting technical and vocational development to prepare participants for future employment opportunities.
In an inspirational message delivered by Jay B. Camiña on behalf of Engr. Ruby A. Andong, MBHTE-TESD BDG, the value of passion, creativity, and dedication in mastering skills such as INC, electrical installation, and cooking was highlighted. She encouraged participants to embrace challenges, learn from every experience, and demonstrate the capabilities of Bangsamoro students on a broader stage.
Additionally, Pendaliday Beda, JD, and Engr. Mansoor N. Akmad, both TVI MDS Presidents, expressed their full support for the competition. They emphasized that events like this foster talent, innovation, and problem-solving, contributing to raising skill standards and helping participants achieve global competitiveness.
The opening ceremony continued with an oath-taking for the experts and competitors, led by Binwalyd K. Lumenda, followed by the lighting of the torch. Engr. Salehk B. Mangelen officially declared the competition open.
The competition proper in INC, Cooking, and Electrical Installation will begin tomorrow, October 9, and conclude on October 11. Winners at the provincial level will represent Maguindanao Province at the Regional Skills Competition.
